  • Collaborate strategically with Regional Sales Leaders and Executive Account Management to target and accelerate high-value opportunities that require deep data engineering and data lake expertise

  • Work hands-on with prospects and customers as a player-coach to demonstrate and communicate the value of Snowflake technology throughout the sales cycle, from demo to proof of concept to design and implementation.

  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the AFE Data Engineering function, driving best practices, team enablement, and providing product feedback to drive future innovation.

  • Immerse yourself in the ever-evolving industry, maintaining a deep understanding of competitive and complementary technologies and vendors and how to position Snowflake in relation to them, emphasizing the business value and ROI.

  • Influence the product roadmap, refine go-to-market strategies, and align field efforts with the product vision and customer success through close collaboration with Product Management, Engineering, Sales Leaders, and Marketing.

ON DAY ONE, WE WILL EXPECT YOU TO HAVE:
  • 10+ years of architecture and data engineering experience within the Enterprise Data space.

  • 5+ years of experience in a team management role, with a focus on pre-sales or technical field teams.

  • 5+ years experience within a pre-sales environment (Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect, etc…).

  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding team revenue targets.

  • Outstanding presentation skills to both technical and executive audiences, whether impromptu on a whiteboard or using presentations and demos.

  • Ability to deeply connect a customer’s specific business problems with Snowflake’s solutions and articulate the associated business value and ROI.

  • Ability to do deep discovery of a customer’s architecture framework and connect those with Snowflake Data Architecture.

  • Broad range of experience within large-scale Database and/or Data Warehouse technology, ETL, analytics, and cloud technologies. For example, Data Lake, Data Mesh, Data Fabric.

  • Hands-on Development experience with technologies such as SQL, Python, Pandas, Spark, PySpark, Hadoop, Hive and any other Big data technologies.

  • Experience designing interoperable data lakehouse architectures and experience working with Iceberg, Delta, and Parquet.

  • Strong architectural and business acumen in data engineering to confidently present and demo to business executives and technical audiences, and effectively handle any impromptu questions.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Masters Degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or related fields, or equivalent experience preferred.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
