In this dynamic leadership role, the Senior Manager - Engineering Controllership ensures IFRS-compliant group reporting and robust financial controls across specific Engineering divisions, while driving improvement in controllership processes.  This role offers exposure to senior and global finance leadership and opportunities to influence across the organisation.

The Engineering Controllership team where this role sits is accountable for Month End management, the accuracy of the ledgers (from an IFRS/ GAAP perspective) through cost assurance activities, Balance Sheet reviews, external/internal audit engagements and identifying areas for improvement to reduce audit risks at a Group level and local entity level.

The role requires strong relationship building both within the wider Engineering finance team and with various internal functions and external (mainly audit), which is critical to ensure that all costs, commitments and liabilities are accurately recorded on a timely basis.

The successful candidate will be a leader with experience of operating in a global matrix organisation and dynamic environment, demonstrate the ability to be a problem solver, have strong communication skills, be able to quickly establish a robust process and partner effectively with finance and non-finance teams.

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Lead and develop a team based in India and Sri Lanka providing training and an outside-in perspective on financial controllership and reporting

  • Drive timely and accurate monthly close and high-quality financial outputs, ensuring cost assurance and compliance with group policies and control procedures

  • Production of robust accounting memos for significant transactions and enabling operating protocols for new transactions

  • Preparation of Financial Packs providing clear & concise executive commentary on significant movements and variances to run rates / forecast

  • Coordinate group audit process for Engineering finance areas and partner with Legal entity controllers to deliver statutory audits

  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and risk controls both within own team as also shared capability teams

  • Drive the intelligent use of relevant automation and AI‑enabled tools to improve efficiency, scalability and control over financial results

  • Strong partner to the wider Engineering finance team, contributing to the annual budget process and reviewing outputs, ensuring financial outcomes align with business needs, with appropriate accounting challenge and support cost management

  • Partner with group finance leaders and cross-functional teams across regions and contribute to strategic finance initiatives at the group level.

Technical/Professional Skills & Competencies:

 

Essential

  • Qualified accountant (e.g., CA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent) with over 7 years post-qualification experience, including over 4 years in a managerial capacity.

  • Big 4 training and Global multi-national corporate experience highly desired

  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS/ GAAP principles

  • Experience of a fast-paced monthly close, reporting and a robust financial control environment preferably in a corporate with a transformation agenda

  • Ability to understand/deal with complex issues and ambiguity, challenge ways of working and implement practical and innovative solutions using all resources and toolsets.

  • Comfortable with working autonomously as well as part of a team and an ability to influence without authority

  • Advanced MS Office skills (VBA/Marcos not required) with demonstrated use of AI based tools

  • Proven track record to form positive relationships with partners via cross-cultural communications

Nice to have

  • Hands on experience of Oracle Fusion, especially projects and lease accounting module

  • Knowledge of Consolidation systems like HFM / FCCS and Management reporting systems like Pyramid / Tesseract

  • Solid understanding of analysis and reconciliation tools like BEX and BlackLine
