Job Description:

At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it's supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we're not just here to move money— we're here to move our global customers forward.
We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.

Remitly is evolving its brand, moving from a remittance app to the financial partner people rely on to live seamlessly across borders. Organic social is a key place that brand shows up, connecting us with customers and communities in their own languages, every day.

As Senior Manager, Content Strategy – Organic Social, you'll lead Remitly's organic consumer social strategy across markets and languages, end to end. That spans content strategy and editorial, the serialized formats and creator programs that bring our brand voice to life, social listening and community management, and measurement and optimization. You'll lead a team of content specialists and agency partners, reporting to the Director, Global Brand.

What you'll do:

  • Own the organic social strategy. Set and socialize the strategic direction for the function, ensuring cross-functional partners understand and know how to input into the approach. Regularly merchandise results and learnings internally to uplevel the program.
  • Lead content development. Oversee established content pillars, assess where they need to be augmented or evolved, and set channel roles and a quarterly plan across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, RedNote and emerging consumer-facing platforms.
  • Build repeatable content. Develop serialized series (product features, customer FAQs, how-to tutorials) that can be localized and reused across markets.
  • Run creator, UGC and ambassador content. Brief and manage creators and production partners, and partner with the Ambassador Program on content that stays on-brand and compliant.
  • Go local. Work with regional and language leads (including Spanish and Mandarin) to build content that sounds like it's from each market, not translated into it.
  • Turn listening into action. Use social listening to track sentiment and themes, feed insights to Product, CS and Marketing, and set the playbook for community management and escalations.
  • Run intake and partnerships. Own the social intake process for requests from product marketing, regional and corporate teams, and decide what goes on owned channels.
  • Measure what matters. Set KPIs (reach, engagement, sentiment, community growth, assisted conversion), report results and adjust the plan.
  • Lead the team and budget. Manage content specialists, contractors and agencies; own the production budget and vendor relationships.
  • Protect the brand. Partner with Legal and Compliance on claims, disclaimers and approvals so content moves fast without risk.

What you'll bring:

  • 8+ years in social media or content strategy, with at least 3 years leading organic social for a consumer brand
  • 2+ years managing people, including contractors and agency partners
  • A track record of building content strategies and series that grew audience and engagement, with the results to show it
  • Experience running social across multiple markets or languages, working with local teams and translators
  • Hands-on experience with creator and UGC programs, from briefing through production and approvals
  • Fluency with social listening and analytics tools, and comfort turning data into a plan
  • Strong writing and editing skills, and an eye for brand voice and visual consistency
  • Experience working with Legal and Compliance in a regulated category (financial services, fintech, healthcare or similar) as well as internal partners such as PR, Internal Comms, Events/Community Marketing, Design, etc.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with immigrant, multicultural or cross-border audiences
  • Additional languages, especially Spanish, Mandarin, Tagalog or Hindi
  • Experience launching a rebrand or new brand identity on social
  • Familiarity with community platforms like Reddit and RedNote
  • Experience using AI tools in content workflows, with good judgment about where they help

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
