The Senior Manager, Business Architect is responsible for translating PBM strategy and initiative intent into clear, executable business design and measurable outcomes. In this role you'll partner closely with business, technology, and delivery teams to ensure the Connected PBM Ecosystem (CPE) program is aligned to enterprise business capabilities, value streams, and outcomes not just point solutions.

You will operate as a strategic integrator, providing clarity on scope, dependencies, sequencing, and value realization. While primarily focused on supporting CPE delivery, you'll also contribute to the evolving Business Architecture discipline by applying standards, templates, and reusable assets.

Why This Role Now

As Connected PBM advances, there is an increased need for Business Architecture support to:

  • Clarify scope and intent.
  • Align delivery to enterprise PBM capabilities.
  • Reduce redundancy and misalignment across teams.
  • Ensure outcomes and benefits are clearly defined and tracked.

This role ensures CPE is designed and executed with enterprise context, supporting both near‑term delivery and long‑term PBM transformation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Execution & Business Design

  • Translate program objectives into business architecture views, including capability maps, value streams, and outcome models.
  • Support program intake and planning by clarifying vision, scope, assumptions, and expected benefits.
  • Evaluate solution options through a capability‑ and value‑driven lens, ensuring alignment to PBM strategy.
  • Identify capability gaps, dependencies, and sequencing considerations that impact execution and outcomes.
  • Support definition and tracking of program‑level outcomes and success measures aligned to enterprise goals/strategies.

2. Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Business, Solution Architecture, Process Engineering, UX, Data, and Change teams to align strategy, design, and execution.
  • Serve as a connective role between business stakeholders and delivery teams to ensure shared understanding of intent and outcomes.
  • Facilitate alignment discussions to resolve scope conflicts, overlaps, or dependency risks across programs.
  • Provide architecture‑based insights to governance, planning, and decision forums as needed.

3. Architecture Standards & Reuse

  • Define and apply established Business Architecture standards, methods, and templates.
  • Contribute to the Business Architecture knowledge base by:
    • Updating capability and value stream inventories.
    • Documenting patterns, lessons learned, and reusable examples.
    • Providing feedback to improve tools and templates.
  • Ensure deliverables are clear, consistent, and aligned to business expectations.
  • Support adoption of Business Architecture practices by modeling effective usage.

Success Measures

  • Clear articulation of scope, intent, and outcomes.
  • Improved alignment between business strategy and delivery execution.
  • Reduced rework and duplication across major programs/initiatives.
  • Consistent use of Business Architecture artifacts across the PBM.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in Business Architecture, Strategy, Process Design, or Enterprise Transformation.
  • Experience supporting large, cross‑functional initiatives in complex environments.
  • Experience translating abstract strategy into practical, executable business design.
  • Experience collaborating across business and technology teams.
  • Experience presenting to all different levels of leadership.

Preferred Qualification

  • 5 plus years of experience within the healthcare arena.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
