We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr Manager of Analytics Engineering to lead and grow our Analytics Engineering team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our core data infrastructure and analytical solutions that empower data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will combine your deep technical expertise with strong leadership and mentorship skills to guide a team of talented analytics engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape our data landscape, implement best practices, and drive the strategic evolution of our analytics capabilities. You will work closely with data scientists, business intelligence developers, product managers, and various business stakeholders to understand their data needs and deliver robust, scalable, and reliable data products.

What You’ll Do

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, fostering a high-performance culture, promoting best practices, and ensuring continuous skill development.

  • Lead and coordinate analytics engineering projects, collaborating closely with data scientists, data analysts, and other stakeholders. Translate business needs into technical requirements and manage the project lifecycle to deliver robust and scalable data solutions.

  • Drive recruitment and hiring for the Analytics Engineering team, identifying and attracting top talent.

  • Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support career growth for team members.

Strategic Planning

  • Define and champion the strategic roadmap for the analytics engineering function, aligning with overall business objectives and data strategy.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and innovation within the data ecosystem.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and analytics engineering.

Project Management

  • Manage the lifecycle of automation projects, from requirements gathering to deployment.

  • Ensure on-time delivery of automation solutions within budget constraints.

  • Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and outcomes.

  • Collaborate with various teams, providing a cross-functional architectural data view to ensure end-to-end integration.

Technical Oversight

  • Champion best practices in code development, version control, testing, and deployment (CI/CD) for data pipelines and models.

  • Promote and implement principles of data observability, reliability, and maintainability.

  • Ensure proper documentation of data models, data lineage, and technical specifications.

  • Establish and enforce architectural patterns, data modeling standards and best practices for data ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption across the data platform.

Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with external partners to understand automation requirements.

  • Communicate technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ensure user satisfaction and alignment with business objectives.

Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with data security and regulatory requirements.

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with system automations.

What You’ll Need: 

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a similar role, with a strong emphasis on building and managing complex data pipelines and data warehouses.

  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership or management role, with a proven track record of successfully leading, mentoring, and scaling a team of data/analytics engineers.

Preferred qualifications 

  • Expert proficiency in SQL: Ability to write complex, highly optimized queries, design efficient database schemas, and diagnose performance issues.

  • Expert proficiency with ETL/ELT frameworks and tools: dbt (Data Build Tool), Airflow, Fivetran.

  • Extensive experience with Data Warehousing/Lake technologies: Snowflake, and Redshift.

  • Familiarity with leading business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Quicksight and Sigma) from an integration and data modeling perspective.

  • Strong understanding and practical experience with data governance, data quality, and metadata management principles.

  • Expertise with version control systems (e.g., Git).

Working conditions & Travel 

  • Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, not in a Workiva office

  • Available to collaborate with remote workforce

  • Less than 25%

How You’ll Be Rewarded

✅ Salary range in the US: $151,000.00 - $242,000.00

✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire

✅ 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package

The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and other relevant factors.
