Job Description
The Senior Manager, Accounting Operations will play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, while driving continuous improvement across processes, systems, and accounting transformative initiatives. This role partners closely with leadership to evaluate, design, and implement scalable solutions that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and controls across accounting functions. This position requires the ability to effectively manage and optimize a high volume of transactional activity supporting a portfolio of 60,000+ single family rental homes, ensuring transactions are recorded in a timely, accurate, and highly efficient manner.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to the job specifications contained herein. Additional duties or job functions that can be performed safely may be required as deemed necessary by supervisory personnel.
Oversee and support the accurate, timely processing and analysis of high-volume transactional activity to support monthly, quarterly and year-end close, including fixed assets, banking activity, and acquisition / disposition transactions, with a focus on streamlining and automating process where possible.
Lead and support fixed asset accounting, including the design and implementing automated solutions to improve tracking, capitalization, depreciation, and reporting.
Drive enhancements to bank reconciliation processes by evaluating current workflows, implementing automation, and strengthening controls to improve accuracy, timeliness, and scalability.
Support the annual audit process, including preparation and review of audit schedules, responses to audit inquiries, testing of internal controls, and assistance with the preparation of financial statements.
Identify, design, and implement process improvements and accounting transformation initiatives to increase efficiency, standardization, and control across the accounting function this role is managing.
Partner cross-functionally with other accounting leaders to support accounting-related system implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
Develop, maintain, and enhance internal controls to ensure compliance, accuracy, and risk mitigation.
Prepare, standardize, and automate analytical financial reports and dashboard to support management review and decision-making.
Lead, develop and drive changes to accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.
Review, approve and post journal entries, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items and variances.
Overseeing general ledger analysis.
Collaborate with executive and senior management on special projects and strategic initiatives.
Drive enhancements and changes to accounting systems and tools to support growth and evolving business needs.
Perform back-up and cross-functional duties as necessary to support team continuity and operational effectiveness.

Minimum Requirements:
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles
10+ years related experience, preferably in a property management/real estate/construction setting
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA required
Advanced knowledge of Excel; proficient in other Microsoft Office programs
Preferred Attributes
Knowledge of Yardi would be a plus

Salary Range
Placement within this compensation range will be determined by the candidate's knowledge, experience and skills.
