Chubb Group of Insurance Companies’ House Counsel Department is seeking an Attorney to handle Employment/Housing Discrimination and Directors and Officers Liability matters to work out of either of the Chubb’s locations of New York, Los Angles, or Tampa House Counsel firm.
As a member of Chubb House Counsel, this attorney will be responsible for defending Chubb-insured institutional clients in employment discrimination, housing discrimination, and directors and officers liability matters before federal and state courts and administrative agencies. The subject matters litigated can include employment and housing discrimination claims, wage and hour law claims, Americans with Disabilities Act claims in employment, public accommodation and digital accessibility contexts, and directors and officers liability claims against homeowner association/condominium/cooperative housing boards.
Clients to be represented encompass large publicly traded corporations, privately held organizations, not for profit organizations, educational institutions, health industry institutions, cultural institutions, condominium/cooperative/homeowner association boards of directors, financial services institutions, real estate developers and managers, and technology companies.
Responsibilities and expectations can include: trial work, appellate work, mediations and arbitrations, depositions, pre-trial investigation and discovery, pleadings, dispositive motion practice, formal written analysis and evaluation of complex legal issues and litigation strategies to clients and insurer’s Claim professionals, commitment to customer service, on-going communication, and responsiveness.
Qualifications- J.D. Degree from Accredited Law School
- 5+ years of experience successfully litigating employment liability, housing discrimination, wage and hour, ADA claims, directors and officers claims before New York/Los Angles/Florida State and Federal courts and administrative agencies, including EEOC.
- Extensive knowledge of current procedural and substantive law, as well as federal and state court and administrative agency rules regarding employment/housing discrimination.
- Sophisticated and effective oral and written advocacy skills and negotiation skills.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills necessary to accurately analyze, evaluate, and develop strategy for resolving complex legal liability and damages issues.
- Enthusiasm and skills necessary to provide excellent customer service through professional, proactive, timely, and consistent communication with clients, insurer’s Claim professionals, and colleagues.
- Proficiency utilizing digital case management and communication technology and tools, in order to optimize performance, efficiency, and results Technology skills to thrive as a litigator in a digital environment
- Strong team player willing to work effectively with others, at all levels and to step outside a defined role where required to advance the firm’s business
- Excellent time management and organizational skill with the ability to work independently and excel in a high-volume environment.
