The Mission

We are looking for a high-caliber, battle-tested Internal Lawyer to lead our legal strategy. You will be responsible for navigating the complex and evolving regulatory landscape of Web3, digital assets, and the global creator economy. This is a role for a strategic thinker who provides solutions, not just "no" answers. You will ensure our operations, from influencer contracts to treasury management, are robust, compliant, and future-proof.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Strategy: Monitor and interpret global regulatory developments (SEC, MiCA, etc.) to ensure our business model remains compliant across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Contract Architecture: Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements, including high-stakes influencer partnerships, service provider contracts, and IP licensing.

  • Treasury & Web3 Compliance: Provide legal oversight for on-chain activities, including payment structures, token distributions, and decentralized protocol interactions.

  • Risk Management: Mitigate legal risks related to consumer protection, data privacy (GDPR/CCPA), and advertising standards in the social media space.

  • Corporate Governance: Manage internal corporate structuring, employment agreements, and IP protection for our proprietary algorithms and branding.

  • Strategic Advisory: Serve as a direct advisor to the leadership team on the legal implications of new product launches and market expansions.

The Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
  • JD & Active Bar Membership: Must be a licensed attorney with 5+ years of experience, preferably with a mix of top-tier firm and in-house experience.

  • Web3 Expertise: Proven track record in the crypto/Web3 sector. You must understand smart contracts, digital asset classification, and the legal nuances of decentralized systems.

  • Creator Economy Fluency: Deep familiarity with influencer marketing laws, FTC disclosure guidelines, and talent management legalities.

  • Commercial Mindset: You understand that legal is a partner to growth. You have the ability to translate complex legal jargon into actionable business advice.

  • Autonomous Operator: You do not need a roadmap. You are capable of building the legal function from the ground up and managing external counsel when necessary.

  • Global Perspective: Experience with international law and "offshore" corporate structures is a significant plus.

Operational Details
  • Location: Fully Remote.

  • Schedule: Full-time (High-availability for strategic decision-making).

  • Technical Proficiency: Comfort with Web3 tools (wallets, multi-sigs) and digital signature platforms.

Why Join Us?
  • Shape the Future: You won't just be following laws; you’ll be helping define the legal standards for the new digital economy.

  • High-Stakes Autonomy: Take full ownership of the legal department in a fast-moving company with a massive growth upside.

  • Intellectual Challenge: Tackle the most interesting legal questions in the world today—at the intersection of social media, finance, and blockchain.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
