Your impact
Your role will implement, monitor, and support services and solutions within the IT Operations group (including Virtualization, Datacenter, Servers, Enterprise Storage, Windows & Linux operating systems, backup, monitoring, core services). Perform daily monitoring, incident response, integration of COTS (Commercial off the shelf) and custom applications, develop processes, and perform system engineering functions.
What you will do

  • Implement and audit computing infrastructure standards and guidelines for company datacenters.
  • Document system architecture and computing infrastructure for company datacenters.
  • Serve as project engineer, systems engineer and/or systems administrator as necessary to support initiatives within the IT Operations function.
  • Establish, enforce, improve, and standardize system-level architectural design and IT practices for the entire system release cycle in all production areas.
  • Support efforts to maintain consistency across production environments in the areas of training, documentation, and architecture.
  • Perform trending analysis and metrics definition in support of improving operations.
  • Evaluate systems, performance, and issues to provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensure consistency of design methodology between operational projects.
  • Produce appropriate specifications and support documentation for the IT Engineering and IT Operations group.
  • Support the documentation of standard processes for the computing infrastructure of all production environments.
  • Establish processes and technical solutions to capture metrics of production environments to be used for improving operational efficiencies.
  • Support the improvement of the promotion model process.
  • Participate in the initial formulation, analysis, and design phases of the systems development life cycle to support company operations.
  • Specify and/or select appropriate hardware, COTS products and toolsets for selected projects (in conjunction with system architects and departmental system engineers).
  • Interface with coworkers from other functions in support of assigned projects and assignments.
  • Provide 24x7 On-Call Support to company datacenters on a rotational basis.


Your required experience/skills

  • Must have a bachelor's degree with at least five years of systems engineering experience and in-depth knowledge of systems engineering and system administration best practices (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)
  • A minimum of 7 years of recent, relevant experience with VMware vCenter Suite, Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and above, and NetApp storage appliances
  • This role is subject to ITAR/EAR; candidates must be a US Person (this includes US Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Individual such as an asylee or refugee).

  • Problem-Solving Acumen: Proficiency in troubleshooting complex technical issues under pressure, employing critical thinking and analytical skills to identify root causes and implement effective solutions swiftly.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Capacity to adapt to evolving technologies, methodologies, and business needs, ensuring systems are agile and responsive to changes in the IT landscape.
  • Stakeholder Management: Skilled in managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, understanding their requirements, and aligning system administration strategies with organizational objectives to deliver value and drive success.


It would be nice if you had:

  • Advanced experience with networking (OSI stack) and trouble shooting
  • Experience with Veritas Cluster Server (InfoScale)
  • Experience with Cisco UCS platform
  • Experience automating repetitive tasks with PowerShell or Ansible

  • CALIFORNIA STATE EXEMPT Pay Rate: The annual salary range for this position is $93,000 to $162,800. In determining compensation, Intelsat considers factors including position scope and responsibilities, candidate's work experience, education/training, skills, internal peer equity, as well as others when extending an offer.
