About Pawp 🐾

Pawp is reimagining access to pet care. We’re building a digital-first platform that makes caring for your pet simpler, more affordable, and more human. With 24/7 virtual care, smart tools, and financial safety nets, Pawp empowers pet parents to make better decisions—without unnecessary stress.

We’re a passionate, mission-driven team backed by top-tier investors, and we’re looking for an iOS Engineer to help us shape the future of pet care.

About the Role:

As an iOS Engineer at Pawp, you’ll play a critical role in building beautiful, intuitive, and high-performing mobile experiences that delight our users. You’ll work closely with product, design, and engineering teammates to bring new features to life and continuously improve our app. This is a role for someone who sweats the small stuff—who obsesses over UI details, craves clean layouts, and believes great UX starts with great code.

What You’ll Do:
  • Build and maintain features in our iOS app using SwiftUI and The Composable Architecture (TCA)

  • Work closely with design to craft pixel-perfect, simple, and elegant user interfaces

  • Help define and enforce UI/UX best practices across the app

  • Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate APIs and ensure smooth end-to-end experiences

  • Proactively identify performance issues and squash bugs before they reach users

  • Contribute to architectural decisions and advocate for clean, maintainable, and scalable code

  • Participate in code reviews, and help mentor other developers where possible

What We’re Looking For:
  • 3+ years of professional iOS development experience

  • Strong command of SwiftUI and TCA, with a deep understanding of their nuances

  • A keen eye for design and layout; you care about the visual polish as much as the functionality

  • Experience building and shipping consumer-facing apps with high-quality UI/UX

  • Ability to turn design specs into pixel-perfect screens that work across devices

  • Familiarity with performance profiling and debugging tools in Xcode

  • A self-starter mentality with excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Bonus: experience working in early-stage startups or fast-paced product teams

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
