We are looking for a thoughtful, well-rounded Senior iOS engineer to join our team, and help build the tools artists on Spotify use to understand and grow their audience. You will play a leading role in our mobile engineering practice, implementing new features, improving performance, and building appealing user interfaces to bring data on artists’ performance on the Spotify client to life.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and improve iOS features that make Spotify for Artists, an excellent tool for artists and their teams to gain insights about their audience and plan for the future.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary, full stack team of engineers, product managers, and designers to develop features from concept to release.
  • Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews to uphold quality standards.
  • Collaborate on technical investigations and architecture improvements for the Spotify for Artists mobile app.
  • Take ownership of tasks, from feature development to debugging and optimization.

Who You Are

  • You have a deep understanding of modern iOS development, including extensive experience with Swift, UIKit and familiarity or curiosity with SwiftUI.
  • You enjoy working collaboratively in mixed-discipline teams (iOS, Android, Web, Data, Design, Product).
  • You value clear communication, exchanging ideas, and continuous improvement.
  • You’re curious, proactive, and open to experimenting with new technologies.
  • You’re interested in how AI can improve workflows and know when to use it to move faster.
  • You bring empathy and user focus to every product decision.
  • Bonus points: you have experience with analytics applications or data visualization, or you have some T-shaped experience in Android or backend development.

Where You’ll Be

  • This role is based in New York.
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
