Criteria is a world leading assessment firm.  We implement high volume selection processes for the most recognizable companies in the world.  Your goal is to put processes and systems in place to help them make better hiring decisions in a legally defensible manner.

Senior Consultants work directly with clients to support their hiring, career pathing, promotion, and development needs.  By applying Industrial & Organizational Psychology (I/O) principles and approaches (such as job analysis/competency modeling, criterion-related and transported validation), senior consultants ensure the proper use of Criteria products and services by our vast client base.

This is a hands-on position among a small team of high performers.  You will be serving large clients, making assessment and selection process recommendations, conducting analyses, and presenting results and recommendations to clients.  If you are a self-starter, get along well with others, have strong data analysis skills, communicate effectively verbally and in writing, bring enough knowledge and experience to hit the ground running, and are open to learn more, then this is the I/O job you’ve been looking for.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Design and manage large scale selection projects with clients.
  • Conduct job analysis/competency modeling.
  • Conduct local criterion-related validation studies.
  • Conduct transported validation studies.

  • Make test battery and score range recommendations to meet clients’ selection needs.
  • Use statistical software to run analyses and interpret results.
  • Communicate with internal and external clients verbally and in writing.
  • Present results of analyses and project related work in a way that is easy to understand, so clients can clearly see the value of Criteria assessments.
  • Leverage AI in an ethical and productive way to provide greater value and deliver efficiencies where appropriate.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

To be successful in this role the incumbent will demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to design and deliver high volume selection projects.
  • Knowledge and experience conducting job analysis/competency modeling.
  • Knowledge and experience conducting local criterion-related validation.
  • Knowledge and experience conducting transported validation.
  • Ability to write a technical report, based on a job analysis and validation study.
  • Ability and experience conducting statistical analyses using related software (e.g., SPSS)
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing across a range of audiences, to communicate and persuade, when needed.
  • Ability to get along with others and demonstrate a people come first attitude.
  • Demonstrate a “can-do” attitude in your words and actions on a daily basis.
  • Ability to multitask and deliver on time, every time.
  • Ability to adapt your approach based on the audience, the situation, and their needs.
  • Some knowledge and experience using AI in your work.

Education:

  • Ph.D. in Industrial & Organizational Psychology (Master’s will be considered).
  • Successful candidates will likely have at least 3 years of experience delivering selection projects in a consulting firm.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
