Job Summary: 

As Senior International Buyer, you will be partnering closely with North America Buying, International Planning, and Global Merchandising teams to drive the success and rapid growth of the international business by conducting detailed analyses of historical data and future trends. At Alo, the buying team is responsible for forecasting the unit sales of the seasonal & carryover assortments within their division. Buyers are expected to use their strong financial skills as well as their fashion intuition to accurately put together seasonal buys, rank the assortment and give recommendations on the assortment based on their findings. You will be expected to show leadership within the Buying Team, as well as help manage and mentor junior members of the team.

Responsibilities: 

  • Put together the sales forecast and units needed from a bottoms up perspective for all Carryover and Seasonal style-colors for International markets
  • Ensure buys are not oversated or understated to help drive channel financial targets & KPIs
  • Present seasonal buy to buying director & leadership teams
  • Help Manage the financial elements of the business with Merchandising & Planning, i.e. Open-To-Buy, Gross Margin Targets, SKU/Unit Plans, etc. for assigned categories
  • Drive growth by partnering with Merchandising team to develop seasonal assortment strategies with respect to category split, store capacities, SKU count, breadth vs. depth, and new vs. carryover
  • Analyze sales in-season and post-season, utilize learnings to inform in-season and future season actions, strategies, and assortments. Be able to recommend style-colors that should become carryovers and never be out of stock.
  • Use the sales performance of each style-color to help identify phase outs and markdowns
  • Present seasonal hindsight in concert with your team and the planning team. Identify opportunities, risks, hits, misses, and develop associated action plans
  • Attend all pertinent meetings for your division(s) and provide recommendations as needed based on knowledge of trend and selling data
  • Communicate business needs with internal cross-functional partners, including Planning, Merchandising, Allocations, Marketing, Design, & Production
  • Understand the needs of your division by country, and if necessary, by channel (stores vs. web)
  • Help manage the launch calendar with the merchandising team as well as track deliveries to ensure products arrive on time for launch dates. Be able to communicate and present solutions to the merchandising team when deliveries are pushed.
  • Partner with buying manager & merchandising on setting prices for international markets

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in buying/planning/merchandising
  • Experience with Europe & Asian markets a plus
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
  • Creative, results-oriented who possesses excellent prioritization and project management skills, and who has a strong sense of focus, organization, and meticulous attention to detail
  • A positive go-getter and team player, who can also work independently with the ability to troubleshoot and work in a fast-moving, multi-tasking environment with numerous deadlines
  • Highly proficient in using the MS Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Be able to help mentor and manage an additional team member

 The base salary range for this position is $115,000-$120,000 per year which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position. Please note that actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. As such, on occasion and when applicable, there is the possibility that the final, agreed-upon base salary may be outside of the upper end of the range. Please also note the range listed is just one component of the company’s total rewards package for exempt employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives, a PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
