At Clover Health, we are dedicated to improving the lives of seniors through high-quality, data-driven physician enablement technology. Initially scaled within our own Medicare Advantage provider network, we have built an innovative technology platform, designed to put actionable clinical insights into the hands of physicians at the point of care.

Our Internal Audit Team is recruiting for a Senior Internal Auditor and ERM Specialist, reporting to the Manager of Internal Audit assisting in the planning and performing internal SOX and operational audits, conducting SOX 404 testing, facilitating the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program, and executing other special projects as directed.

As a Senior Internal Auditor and ERM Specialist, you will:

  • Operational Audits: Partner on audit planning and execution—from scoping to fieldwork to reporting. You'll evaluate internal controls, identify process gaps, and highlight opportunities for greater efficiency or cost savings. Your insights will shape meaningful recommendations and help teams take action. You’ll also track resolution of past findings and ensure we’re closing the loop.
  • Enterprise Risk Management: Support the evolution of Clover’s ERM program. You’ll facilitate risk assessments across the business, update the enterprise risk register, and surface relevant risks and trends. You'll help drive a risk-aware mindset by working across compliance, security, and business teams to embed risk thinking into everyday decisions.
  • SOX Compliance: Lead walkthroughs and testing of business and IT controls, document end-to-end processes, and identify control gaps that could impact financial reporting. You’ll stay close to operational and organizational changes to ensure SOX controls stay current—and help teams stay ahead. You'll also support our use of AuditBoard to manage testing and documentation and track status.
  • Special Projects: Take on strategic audits and ad-hoc work with minimal direction—whether it’s a targeted investigation, process deep dive, or an urgent request from leadership or the Audit Committee.
  • Collaboration and Impact: Act as a partner and educator to teams across Clover—explaining the ‘why’ behind controls, facilitating difficult conversations and helping teams translate guidance into action. You’ll build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, co-source teams, and external auditors, and bring the Internal Audit perspective to the table with clarity and confidence.

Success in this role looks like:

  • Strengthen the internal control and risk environment through impactful audits and proactive issue remediation.
  • Elevate enterprise risk management by driving alignment around key risks and informing strategic decision-making.
  • Build trusted partnerships across the business, delivering insights that lead to action and lasting improvements.

You should get in touch if:

  • You have 3+ years of experience in internal audit and enterprise risk management (ERM), with a background in Big 4 or healthcare payers considered a plus.
  • You hold an active CPA, CIA, or CISA certification.
  • You bring experience with SOX compliance, U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and operating within public company environments.
  • You are familiar with COSO, auditing standards, risk frameworks, and ORSA reporting.
  • You possess a strong understanding of core business and IT processes.
  • You excel at managing complex projects and are comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • You can influence cross-functional teams and drive key initiatives to completion.
  • You are proficient with GRC tools, audit software (especially AuditBoard), and data analysis platforms.
  • You have exposure to the Model Audit Rule (preferred, but not required).

Benefits Overview:

  • Financial Well-Being: Our commitment to attracting and retaining top talent begins with a competitive base salary and equity opportunities. Additionally, we offer a performance-based bonus program, 401k matching, and regular compensation reviews to recognize and reward exceptional contributions.

  • Mental Well-Being: We understand the importance of mental health in fostering productivity and maintaining work-life balance. To support this, we offer initiatives such as No-Meeting Fridays, monthly company holidays, access to mental health resources, and a generous flexible time-off policy. Additionally, we embrace a remote-first culture that supports collaboration and flexibility, allowing our team members to thrive from any location.
  • Professional Development: Developing internal talent is a priority for Clover. We offer learning programs, mentorship, professional development funding, and regular performance feedback and reviews.

Additional Perks:

  • Reimbursement for office setup expenses

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
