Moov is revolutionizing the way businesses integrate and use financial services. Our platform empowers developers to build, scale, and innovate faster with seamless payments and banking solutions. We believe in simplifying financial technology so businesses can focus on what matters most—growing their companies.

We’re looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our Infra team. Moov’s Infra team is responsible for a variety of cross-cutting capabilities from cloud environments and CI/CD to shared libraries, authorization, and authentication primitives. Their mission is to give other Moovers the tools they need to build the best payments platform possible.

You will:

  • Manage Infrastructure as Code for essential Moov infrastructure components such as public cloud resources, application deployments, and computer networks
  • Participate in the infra team on-call rotation to help triage incidents with the Moov platform
  • Perform network engineering tasks, managing resources such as VPN’s, dynamic routing, firewalls, and load balancers
  • Assist with the management and troubleshooting of Postgres databases
  • Configure and maintain Saas and off-the-shelf software applications
  • Support teams building applications in languages such as Go and JavaScript
  • Collaborate with fellow engineers, product managers, business development, and company leadership to solve problems and plan for the future

You have:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in an Infrastructure, SRE, or software engineering role
  • Operated production services in public clouds like GCP or AWS
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation; or configuration management tools like Ansible, Packer, Chef, and Puppet
  • Knowledge of observability strategies, as well as performance analysis and load testing tools like HoneyComb, DataDog, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Travis
  • Experience with version control systems, including branching and tagging strategies
  • Software development experience in languages such as Go, Java, Python, or JavaScript
  • Experience with Incident Management procedures and associated tools such as Incident.io or Pagerduty
  • Knowledge of containers and container orchestration solutions such as Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, Marathon, or cloud-specific solutions like Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), or AWS Elastic Container Service (ECS)
  • Experience with event streaming platforms such as Kafka
  • The ability to design seemingly simple and creative solutions to complex problems
  • Bonus if you have experience contributing to open-source projects, working in regulated environments, or writing production software in strongly-typed languages

Technologies we use and teach

  • Infrastructure as Code tooling using OpenTofu and Spacelift
  • Cloud-native runtime and deployment technologies like Kubernetes and Google Cloud
  • Go, Typescript, and a little bit of Python
  • Microservices that speak JSON and Protobuf
  • Event-based architectures that use Kafka and webhooks
  • Secrets management with Hashicorp Vault and GCP KMS
  • Observability and monitoring using Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and Honeycomb
  • Incident management and on-call using Incident.io

Advice:

If you are nervous about not having the right qualifications, apply anyway! We hire people, not job roles. We look for talent that will help us push boundaries, experiment, and bring in new ideas. That means caring more about qualities than qualifications.

One more thing:

Don’t go iron your clothes for your interview (do people still own irons?). We're all pretty casual here, so you can wear whatever you are most comfortable in.

Okay—last thing:

When you meet with us, have some concrete, tangible examples of when you’ve added value, improved something, created something, or done some fantastic, customer-centric work. We also want to learn about you as a person. If you want to know what it’s like working at Moov, check out stories from our employees.

PS:

Share our job roles with others! Wouldn’t it be nice to make new friends and bring over old friends? We think so.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
