At Zoox, our Logistics team enables seamless, scalable, and efficient material flow across the supply chain, ensuring the timely delivery of components critical to vehicle manufacturing and service operations. We value collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Zoox is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Senior Industrial Engineer to spearhead the design, scaling, and execution of our Service Warehousing and Service Network Infrastructure. Unlike traditional manufacturing roles, this position is focused on the lifecycle of our service parts network. You will be the architect of our Distribution Center strategy and drive the standardization and deployment of multiple localized service warehouses. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in large-scale distribution hub setup, network-wide standardization, and the logistical agility required to support a rapidly scaling, high-tech autonomous vehicle service network.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the end-to-end design, layout, and operational launch of our Distribution Center and regional hubs.

  • Develop, document, and implement rigorous operational and layout standards for a network of large small localized service warehouses to ensure consistency in safety, efficiency, and velocity.

  • Partner with Supply Chain and Logistics to conduct distribution network planning, determining optimal inventory placement, fulfillment strategies, and transit lanes.

  • Design facility layouts (CAD), racking configurations, kitting areas, and material handling systems tailored for service parts variance (from small electronics to heavy powertrain components).

  • Establish 5S, visual management, standard work, and inventory control processes tailored specifically for a high-turn, high-availability service environment.

  • Collaborate with IT and Systems teams to specify requirements for Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory tracking technologies across the network.

  • Leverage data analytics to identify network bottlenecks, optimize safety stock placement, reduce fulfillment lead times, and drive down total logistics costs.

  • Travel Requirements: 30% to 50%

On-site Requirement: 4-5x per week in office when not traveling

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field, with 8+ years of progressive experience in industrial engineering

  • Proven track record of leading complex warehouse launch initiatives from empty shell to fully operational facility.

  • Demonstrated experience creating operational, equipment, and process standards scaled across a large footprint.

  • Direct experience with the strategy, setup, and optimization of a Distribution Center.

  • Strong experience in distribution network planning, including footprint optimization, capacity planning, and lead-time reduction.

  • Advanced project management skills with the ability to manage multiple facility launches simultaneously and align cross-functional stakeholders (Real Estate, Tech, Ops).

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience in Automotive Service Parts (MRO) or high-tech aftermarket distribution networks.

  • Proficiency in warehouse simulation modeling software (e.g., FlexSim, Arena, Simio) to validate network and facility designs.

  • Experience evaluating and implementing automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS) or autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) in a distribution setting.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
