Location: Long Beach, CA (HQ – Onsite)
Reports To: Human Resources Director
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $95,000 – $115,000 annually (based on experience)

Position Summary

The People Partner is a trusted advisor, coach, and culture champion who works closely with leaders and teams to create an environment where people can do their best work. This role blends strategic partnership with hands-on support, ensuring that people practices are equitable, compliant with California employment laws, and aligned with the organization’s mission and values.

The People Partner helps leaders build strong teams, navigate change, and foster a workplace where employees feel supported, included, and empowered.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic People Partnership
  • Partner with leaders to understand business goals and translate them into people strategies that strengthen team performance and organizational health
  • Provide thought partnership on organizational design, team effectiveness, and workforce planning
  • Support leaders through change, growth, and transformation with empathy and clarity
Culture, Engagement & Employee Experience
  • Champion a culture of trust, inclusion, accountability, and continuous learning
  • Identify opportunities to improve the employee experience across the lifecycle — onboarding, development, recognition, and offboarding
  • Use engagement insights, feedback, and data to help leaders build high-performing, connected teams
Employee Relations, Investigations & Compliance
  • Guide leaders through sensitive employee relations matters with fairness, discretion, and a solution-oriented mindset
  • Ensure all practices comply with California employment laws, including wage-and-hour rules, CFRA/FMLA/PDL, pay transparency, and anti-harassment requirements
  • Conduct or support investigations, document findings, and recommend actions that are consistent, compliant, and aligned with organizational values
Talent Development & Performance
  • Coach leaders on effective feedback, goal-setting, and performance conversations
  • Support talent reviews, succession planning, and development planning for high-potential employees
  • Partner with Learning & Development to identify capability gaps and build targeted development programs
People Operations & Insights
  • Partner with People Operations/Payroll to ensure policies, processes, and systems are clear, equitable, and compliant
  • Use people data and trends (turnover, engagement, DEI indicators, workforce metrics) to inform decisions and influence strategy
  • Support hiring teams with job design, interview best practices, and equitable selection processes
QualificationsRequired
  • 5–8+ years of progressive HR/People experience, including direct partnership with leaders
  • Strong working knowledge of California employment law and multi-state HR practices
  • Experience supporting teams in dynamic, high-growth, or mission-driven environments
  • Ability to build trust quickly, communicate with clarity, and influence without authority
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • A people-first mindset grounded in fairness, empathy, and accountability
