Role Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior GTM & Meta Tracking Consultant to independently manage and optimize our digital marketing tracking ecosystem. This is a client-facing consulting role requiring deep expertise in Google Tag Manager (GTM), Meta Pixel, Conversion API (CAPI), and digital analytics.
The consultant will work directly with client stakeholders to troubleshoot Meta Pixel inconsistencies, optimize event tracking, and ensure accurate attribution for high-investment Google and Meta advertising campaigns. Since the tracking implementation is managed through GTM and the Meta platform (rather than the application codebase), the ideal candidate must be proficient in configuring, debugging, and validating tag management solutions with minimal developer dependency.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve Meta Pixel inconsistencies affecting campaign measurement and attribution.
- Configure, optimize, and maintain tracking implementations using Google Tag Manager (GTM) without requiring application code changes wherever possible.
- Implement and validate Meta Pixel events, Custom Conversions, and Meta Conversion API (CAPI) integrations.
- Ensure accurate implementation and tracking of key marketing events including Page View, View Content, Add to Cart, Initiate Checkout, Purchase, Lead, and custom business events.
- Review GTM container architecture, data layer implementation, triggers, variables, and tags to identify optimization opportunities.
- Perform end-to-end testing and quality assurance using GTM Preview Mode, Meta Events Manager, GA4 DebugView, browser developer tools, and network inspection tools.
- Monitor event accuracy, deduplication, attribution consistency, and overall data quality across Meta and Google marketing platforms.
- Partner directly with client marketing, analytics, and technical teams to understand business objectives and recommend scalable tracking solutions.
- Translate business and marketing requirements into robust measurement and tagging strategies.
- Document tracking architecture, event taxonomy, implementation standards, and operational best practices.
- Recommend automation opportunities and governance improvements for tag management and digital measurement.
- Provide implementation guidance, technical recommendations, and ongoing support for campaign tracking enhancements.
Required Qualifications
- 5–8+ years of hands-on experience in Digital Analytics, Marketing Technology, Tag Management, or Marketing Measurement.
- Strong expertise in Google Tag Manager (Web), including advanced tag, trigger, variable, and data layer configurations.
- Proven experience implementing and troubleshooting Meta Pixel and Meta Conversion API (CAPI).
- Strong understanding of Google Analytics 4 (GA4), event-based measurement, and conversion tracking.
- Hands-on experience debugging tracking issues using browser developer tools, GTM Preview, Meta Events Manager, and GA4 DebugView.
- Good working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and browser networking concepts to support GTM implementations.
- Experience working with custom data layers and complex event configurations.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing attribution, conversion measurement, and campaign performance tracking.
- Ability to independently diagnose issues, recommend solutions, and execute implementations with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing Google Ads Conversion Tracking and Enhanced Conversions.
- Experience with Server-Side Google Tag Manager (sGTM).
