About Sweatpals

At Sweatpals, our mission is to help people build real connection through movement - and empower the next generation of fitness entrepreneurs.

Backed by a16z Speedrun, Kevin Hart, and other world-class investors, we connect hundreds of thousands of “Pals,” hosts, and gyms through events, memberships, and social features.

We believe working out should be joyful, social, and inclusive - not just a solo grind. From run clubs and beach pilates to pickleball leagues and cold plunge socials, Sweatpals turns everyday workouts into meaningful social experiences.

Sweatpals also gives local leaders the tools to grow their fitness communities from side hustles to full-time, even million-dollar businesses. Hosts use our platform to run their business - from ticketing and memberships to marketing tools.

As we scale, lifecycle marketing will play a critical role in turning this mission into a habit. You’ll help shape the end-to-end journey for every Pal and Host — guiding them from their first moment of curiosity to long-term engagement, repeat experiences, and thriving community connections.

The Role

We’re hiring a Senior Lifecycle Marketing Manager to own activation, onboarding, and retention for both Pals and Hosts. This role is CRM-heavy and systems-driven — focused on email, push, SMS, in-app journeys, and scalable education that turns signups into loyal, repeat users.

You will architect journeys that shorten time-to-value, increase RSVPs for Pals, and help hosts succeed faster on Sweatpals.

What You’ll Own

  • Own the full lifecycle for Pals and Hosts across email, push, SMS, and in-app messaging

  • Build onboarding flows that drive first RSVP and first host event

  • Create segmentation, behavioral triggers, and win-back journeys across the user lifecycle

  • Improve activation and retention through CRM experiments, personalization, and continuous optimization

  • Partner with Product and Support to reduce friction and accelerate time-to-first-value

  • Analyze lifecycle performance and iterate based on insights (activation %, repeat RSVP %, churn signals, NPS)

  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and our AI team to deliver personalized, dynamic user journeys at scale

  • Own lifecycle strategy end-to-end, ensuring our Pals and Hosts feel supported, successful, and motivated to return

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of experience in lifecycle, CRM, retention, or growth roles, ideally in a fast-paced consumer or marketplace environment

  • Deep expertise in segmentation, automation, experimentation, and behavior-based lifecycle strategy

  • Fluent in tools like Customer.io, Hightouch, Braze, HubSpot, Iterable, or similar

  • A strategic thinker who can design systems, not just campaigns — with a track record of improving activation, retention, and repeat behavior

  • A self-starter who proactively identifies opportunities, proposes solutions, and leads initiatives without needing hand-holding or constant direction

  • Confident owning the lifecycle roadmap end-to-end — you can tell us what needs to happen, not wait to be told

  • Strong communicator and empathetic storyteller who can shape clear, supportive messaging for Pals and Hosts

  • Reliable, accountable, and consistent — you take pride in execution quality and hitting outcomes

  • Experience influencing Product, Engineering, and cross-functional partners to ship impactful lifecycle improvements

  • Comfortable operating as both a strategic leader and hands-on IC — willing to build, experiment, and iterate quickly

  • Startup-minded: scrappy, resourceful, and energized by ambiguity and fast growth

Success Looks Like

  • Pals and Hosts experience a smooth, supportive onboarding journey that leads to early success on the platform

  • Engagement and participation increase as a result of thoughtful lifecycle programs and ongoing optimization

  • Retention improves through timely, relevant communication and clear guidance throughout each stage of the journey

  • Pals and Hosts feel informed and confident, with fewer blockers and a more seamless path to ongoing participation and success

  • Cross-functional collaboration drives clarity, alignment, and measurable progress on lifecycle goals

  • Lifecycle insights and reporting help guide decisions, inform strategy, and shape future product priorities

Why Join Sweatpals

At Sweatpals, you’ll build more than lifecycle programs — you’ll shape the future of how people find belonging through movement. If you’re motivated by ownership, complexity, and meaningful impact, this is a place where your work will truly matter. We move fast, think creatively, and operate with high trust and high expectations.

You’ll thrive here if you:

  • Want real ownership, not a narrow channel or templated playbook

  • Are excited to design systems from the ground up — not just optimize what someone else built

  • Want to see your work show up in real life at events, classes, in cities, and in communities all around the world.

  • Take pride in clear thinking, strong execution, and measurable outcomes

  • Are energized by smart, motivated teammates who move fast and bring their best every day

  • Care about helping people connect, feel seen, and live healthier lives

We’re still early — which means your work will have outsized impact on the company, the product, and the lives of Pals and Hosts in our community. If you’re excited by challenge, autonomy, and a mission with heart, you’ll feel at home here.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
