1047 Games began with the simple principle that people should have fun while making great games. Bucking convention and driven by a passion to create the ultimate gaming experience, Ian Proulx and Nicholas Bagamian founded 1047 Games in 2017 in their Stanford dorm room. Their love for arena shooters of the past drove them to create Splitgate, a unique sci-fi first-person shooter that adds portal guns to upend the genre.
What started as two computer science majors putting portals into a first-person shooter for a project demo has evolved into a VC-backed company which has raised more than
$120MM in funding.

At 1047 Games, you’ll find a permanently remote, dedicated team of top-tier talent from some of the world’s biggest gaming and tech companies who share our founders’ vision. Grit, ingenuity, a desire to have fun, and a start up mentality define our crew. We are currently working on Splitgate 2!

You’re the right person if you are:

  • Passionate about creating cutting-edge design solutions for both short- and long-term projects.
  • Detail-oriented, innovative, and eager to push creative boundaries.
  • A clear and effective communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Enthusiastic about tackling new, challenging design problems.
  • Resilient, willing to experiment, learn from failure, and iterate to achieve success.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Art teams to develop strategically aligned designs and visual identity solutions for the brand and sub-brands.
  • Create compelling graphics and motion assets for digital storefronts, in-game elements, social channels, partner applications, events, merch, and video content.
  • Expand and enhance the current Style Guide to include motion graphics and dynamic visual assets, ensuring consistency and innovation.
  • Develop social media-ready animated graphics packages that elevate the brand's presence and engagement.
  • Present design solutions to teammates and stakeholders, providing clear rationale for design decisions.
  • Engage in open communication with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
  • Proactively collaborate with marketing colleagues and other teams to deliver creative solutions quickly, accurately, and on schedule.
  • Balance quick-turn weekly design tasks with more extensive, long-term projects.
  • Support the evolution and growth of the brand's overall visual identity through innovative design work.
  • Ensure all creative work complies with brand, platform, licensor guidelines, and industry standards.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience with an in-house creative team.
  • Proven expertise in motion graphics, including creating social media animations and graphics packages.
  • Experience in an Agile environment and knowledge of the marketing process through direct experience.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional organization with distributed teams across time zones.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and juggle multiple priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
