As the nation’s leading health solutions company, we reach millions of Americans through our local presence, digital channels and more than 300,000 purpose-driven colleagues – caring for people where, when and how they choose in a way that is uniquely more connected, more convenient and more compassionate. And we do it all with heart, each and every day.

Position Summary

We are looking for a talented Senior Graphic Designer to join us. Our work is at the intersection of design and cutting-edge marketing technology. As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to partner with data scientists, marketing strategists, and other creative talents to help improve the health of over 25 million Aetna members.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, designing omnichannel campaigns that include print, web, and social media. In digital, you will design, edit, and hand off email assets for development, primarily using Figma. In print, you will lay out, edit and collaborate with our print vendor to execute a range of direct mail pieces, many of which will leverage variable content. This position requires a meticulous personality: an incredible eye for detail and strict adherence to brand guidelines. Please be prepared to submit an online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating relevant work experience.

As a Senior Graphic Designer, you should be comfortable working independently to translate marketing strategies into innovative design solutions. Additionally, you should demonstrate leadership as a design subject matter expert (SME) by presenting and articulating design decisions in the context of campaign objectives. You will serve as a key support to the Creative Lead, including:

  • Ownership of the delivery of design assets.
  • Leading User Acceptance Testing (UAT) checks and reviewing proofs.
  • Partnering in creative revisions..
  • Actively problem-solving

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Design digital and print communications to reach our members.
  • Manage the creative requirements, including partnering with clients and team members to refine campaign materials and prepare for implementation.
  • Partner with copywriter and/or creative leads to deliver on the brief and adhere to our brand vision and standards while ensuring consistency.
  • Package and deliver optimized project files for execution.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 6 years of experience as a Graphic Designer with an agency or in a health care setting, including designing for print, email, and web.
  • 3-5 years of experience working on product teams, focusing on the development of multiple iterations/variations of campaign materials.
  • 3-5 years of experience working with or managing print vendor relationships.
  • Demonstrated proficiency of Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience liaising with senior and junior team members — dynamic experience “rolling up sleeves” to pitch in as needed.
  • Can back up why a design choice is made and knows to reference best practices for high quality deliverables.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Excellent communication.
  • Familiarity with dynamic content.
  • Experience with video and animation.
  • Experience developing written content is a big plus! (social media, e-commerce, etc.).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field.

Education:

High school diploma or G.E.D.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
