The Moderation Engineering organization’s mission lies at the core of Reddit's success as a platform: we build features that enable moderators to create and grow meaningful, destination communities. Moderators are a key pillar of Reddit’s success, and act as community leaders and tastemakers, ensuring there’s something on Reddit for everyone. With such huge responsibility, Reddit's moderation system needs to be simple and easy to use so moderators can focus their energy on creating and cultivating thriving communities. The Moderation Experience team is focused on creating a one stop shop for Moderators to effortlessly complete their daily workflows and foster their communities.

We are seeking a talented and experienced Full-Stack Engineer to join our team. You'll be a key contributor to building and enhancing our products, developing features from end to end, and ensuring our systems are scalable, reliable, and serve moderator needs. This role requires a passion for tackling complex challenges in a fast paced nimble environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications and services while ensuring the performance, security, and scalability of our systems..
  • Work collaboratively with product managers, designers, data scientists and other engineers to deliver high-quality products.
  • Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch. You’ll be reviewing code and design docs, giving feedback on product specs and mocks.
  • Set and define standards that improve developer workflows, recommend best practices, and help coach and mentor engineers on the team to further their professional development.
  • Continuously learn and improve your technical and non-technical abilities.

Our teams leverage a diverse and modern technology stack. While specific technologies may vary by team, we generally work with:

  • Languages: Go, Python, TypeScript
  • Frameworks: Lit, Node.js, Spark, Kafka, Airflow

What We are Looking For:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative or computer science-related field.
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience in a scalable computing environment.
  • Ability to take end-to-end ownership of projects, from initial design to deployment and maintenance.
  • A passion for learning and adapting to new technologies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit. You are self-directed, innovative, and biased towards action in fast-paced environments. You love to build new things and thrive in ambiguity and can easily navigate failure.

We are building a Compliance Engineering team as part of Reddit's technical journey. 

The SPACE (Security Privacy and corporate Engineering org) is building a Compliance Eng team at Reddit, that is responsible for preparing our platforms for constantly evolving regulatory requirements. We are also building foundational products that are impactful for Reddit’s future.  We work closely with teams across the company to ensure every platform we support and feature we ship meets the highest standards and quality bar. The projects we undertake span multiple domains and technology stacks and successful engineers in this role will be adaptable and thrive in ambiguous problem spaces. 


What You’ll Do:

  • Adapt our platforms to the ever changing privacy, security and regulatory landscape 
  • Work cross-functionally with product, design, and engineers across Reddit to ensure compliance of our platforms
  • Help build a new team within Reddit and drive its roadmap, processes and execution 
  • Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch.  Coordinate high impact, highly cross functional business critical projects and features. 
  • Participate with a team of thoughtful, fast-moving, and motivated engineers. Contribute to standards that improve developer workflows, recommend best practices, and help mentor junior engineers on the team to grow their technical expertise.

This is a high impact role where you will be involved in technical & product strategy and have a chance to get in on the ground floor of a new product space. 

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent technical expertise
  • 5+ years of hands-on, professional software development experience developing user-facing iOS mobile native applications at scale, using Swift
  • You have experience working with various iOS libraries such as UIKit, Combine, Swift Concurrency, and Apollo GraphQL
  • You have experience working with API design and interfacing with backend services, as well as 3rd party services via SDK and webviews.
  • You are a strategic thinker who thrives on developing a long-term technical foundation and has a passion for developing scalable, well-designed software that improves people’s lives globally.
  • A track record of leading large projects that require cross-team and cross-functional collaborations
  • Entrepreneurial spirit. You are self-directed, innovative, and biased towards action in fast-paced environments. You love to build new things and thrive in ambiguity and even failure.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams such as design, product, data teams to deliver great user experiences.

This job posting may span more than one career level.

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below.

The base pay range for this position is:
$190,800$267,100 USD
