About Us

Red Cell Partners is an incubation firm building and investing in rapidly scalable technology-led companies that are bringing revolutionary advancements to market in three distinct practice areas: healthcare, cyber, and national security. United by a shared sense of duty and deep belief in the power of innovation, Red Cell is developing powerful tools and solutions to address our Nation’s most pressing problems.

About the Role:

As a Red Cell Full-Stack Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and developing the founding codebase for our early-stage incubation companies’ backend, frontend, and everything in between. You will be a part of a ‘venture pod’ working to rapidly prototype early-stage concepts, helping a cross-functional team validate and receive market feedback on new ideas.

This role will also dedicate up to 25% time to web development efforts for Red Cell Partners’ and our incubation companies’ digital presence. This will be a combination of scoped projects and ad-hoc tasks, with designs, requirements, and success criteria provided by our marketing team.

  • Build rapid prototypes and demos that can be brought to the customer and ventures markets for feedback.
  • Design and implement robust application frontends and services to process and navigate complex data using the latest technologies.
  • Engage with product managers, designers, and software engineers to gather requirements and translate them into intuitive and visually appealing UI/UX implementations.
  • Design, develop, and maintain websites for our incubation companies using Webflow and WordPress.
  • Create responsive, mobile-friendly UX and ensure cross-browser compatibility.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with a significant portion in full stack roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Extensive experience as a hands-on coder, capable of building the founding codebase and setting technical direction.
  • Willingness to learn new, on-the-job technologies and skillsets to ensure successful outcomes for our startup companies.
  • Experience in front-end technologies including frameworks and libraries such as Typescript, JavaScript, React, Next.JS with an understanding of front-end development principles and best practices. Proven capability in developing responsive, scalable frontends and APIs.
  • Experience with cloud-based solutions (AWS, GCP, Azure) and familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD tools.
  • Strong knowledge of database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and experience with database design and optimization.
  • Proven experience in building and managing sites with Webflow and WordPress. Skilled with Webflow’s Designer, CMS, and interactions.
  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web standards.
  • Ability to implement animations and large graphics in a performant, responsive manner, ensuring smooth user experiences across devices and browsers.
  • Knowledge of best practices for security and compliance with the ability to implement robust security measures to protect sensitive data.

Bonus Points:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science
  • Experience with AWS big data or application service technologies – such as EKS, EMR, Glue, Lakehouse, etc.
  • Experience in developing product telemetry systems
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and website optimization
  • Strong interest in defending against cyber threats, improving the quality of healthcare, and protecting national security interests

You Might Thrive in This Role If You:

  • Are a “self starter” - a versatile team player comfortable with ambiguity and rapid iteration.
  • Excel at building maintainable backend infrastructure and user-facing products.
  • Have a track record of shipping high-quality software under tight deadlines
  • Are passionate about creating simple and intuitive user experiences that resonate with users
  • Enjoy using AI tools to accelerate development and are passionate about experimenting with new technologies.
  • Enjoy collaborating across cross-functional teams to drive innovation and growth.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
