Every day, tens of millions of people come to Roblox to explore, create, play, learn, and connect with friends in 3D immersive digital experiences– all created by our global community of developers and creators.

At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there.

A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.

Roblox is looking for a Senior Frontend Software Engineer to help shape the future of how we run enterprises. In this role, you’ll build systems that make us more efficient and scalable as an organization, driving innovation across our business products, e.g. internal tools, HR systems, and more. With AI transforming the way we work, you’ll have the autonomy to explore and integrate cutting-edge solutions that help Roblox operate at 10x efficiency.

This is a new team at Roblox. We need someone who thrives with autonomy and ownership - a builder who can advocate for best development practices, seamlessly collaborate with other teams & external vendors, and work directly with Roblox Executives to drive meaningful impact.

As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the development and enhancement of our high-impact internal products. You will be responsible for building intuitive, performant, and scalable user interfaces that empower our teams and optimize company operations. In this role, you will report to a seasoned and tenured Engineering Manager in ROS.

You will:

  • Lead the technical design and implementation of complex frontend applications, collaborating closely with product, design, and backend engineering teams to define and refine requirements for internal products.
  • Drive the creation of robust, scalable, and maintainable user interfaces, ensuring high quality, exceptional user experience, and adherence to modern frontend best practices.
  • Take ownership of significant frontend projects from end to end, ensuring they are well-planned, executed efficiently, and deliver meaningful user and business impact.
  • Contribute to technical discussions and decisions specifically related to frontend architecture, helping to shape product requirements and align team efforts toward a cohesive vision.
  • Work extensively with modern web technologies and UI frameworks, staying abreast of new developments and applying them to solve complex challenges.
  • Uphold high frontend engineering standards, contributing to the development of modular, performant, and future-proof systems.
  • Explore and apply new tools and approaches, including the effective use of AI, to improve frontend development efficiency and enhance product capabilities.

You have:

  • 4+ years of dedicated experience building complex, high-performance frontend applications.
  • 3+ years of in-depth experience working with modern web UI technologies and frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue), with a strong understanding of their ecosystems.
  • Proven experience with state management libraries, build tools, and testing frameworks commonly used in large-scale frontend development.
  • Solid understanding of web performance optimization techniques, accessibility standards, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Familiarity with backend concepts and API integration (RESTful APIs, GraphQL), and the ability to collaborate effectively with backend engineers.
  • 1+ year of experience leading significant frontend projects or modules, demonstrating technical leadership and mentorship.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

You are:

  • User-Centric: While deeply technical, you consistently prioritize the needs of the user (whether internal engineers or other stakeholders), ensuring the frontend solutions are intuitive, efficient, and delightful to use.
  • A Creative Problem-Solver: You take a creative and strategic approach to solving complex UI/UX challenges, simplifying difficult problems and bringing in fresh ideas to enhance the user experience.
  • Versatile: You are adaptable and resourceful, comfortable learning and applying new frontend technologies and patterns as needed to tackle diverse challenges.
  • Team-Oriented: You are a strong collaborator with excellent communication skills, able to work effectively across product, design, and engineering teams, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to a stronger team dynamic.
  • An Innovator: Passionate about leveraging cutting-edge frontend technologies to create intuitive tools that enhance user workflows and drive business insights.
  • AI-Driven: You are enthusiastic about exploring how AI can improve frontend development workflows and user-facing features, and are already using AI to enhance your productivity, though specific AI expertise is not strictly required.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
