Wormhole Labs is a technology company that specializes in building multi-blockchain software. Our experience spans a broad spectrum of blockchain technology, and we are committed to providing developers and clients with the most innovative tools necessary to excel in a distributed economy.

As a Senior Frontend Engineer at Wormhole Labs, you will make significant contributions to Portal and Wormhole's open-source frontend components. These components include the Wormhole TypeScript SDK, which developers use to interact with Wormhole protocols, and Wormhole Connect, an embeddable widget that allows developers to include Wormhole-powered asset transfers directly into their application.

What you will do
  • Contribute to Portal (https://portalbridge.com/).

  • Contribute to the development of Wormhole TypeScript SDK, Wormhole Connect, and other open source frontend components and libraries.

  • Follow best practices for secure frontend development and build future best practices alongside Wormhole security researchers.

  • Maintain and improve testing frameworks and thoroughly test your code.

  • Stay up to date with the latest in web3 development best practices, tooling, and industry trends.

The ideal candidate will
  • Have 5+ years of experience building web applications used by millions of users.

  • Be fluent with Claude Code and LLM best practices.

  • Be high agency and effect the outcomes they wish to see.

  • Demonstrate customer obsession and feel pride in building great experiences.

  • Care deeply about the business outcomes of your work and challenge priorities when the business impact is unclear.

  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, although equivalent practical experience will also be taken into consideration.

We provide
  • Competitive salary and restricted token units, dependent on position type and location.

  • Discretionary bonus dependent on company and individual performance.

  • Unlimited time off, healthcare premium reimbursement, and 401K.

  • Top-of-the-line MacBook Pro.

  • Flexibility of working from wherever you have work authorization, as long as you are available ~10-6PM US Eastern Time. We minimize unnecessary meetings, but building decentralized systems requires synchronous communication.

Note:  This role is only open to candidates with demonstrated experience building widely used web applications. We will only respond to applications that meet our requirements. If you don't get a response, please assume a polite decline.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
