About Monte Carlo

As businesses increasingly rely on data + AI for competitive advantage, reliability has become a non-negotiable. Named a CBInsights AI100 company and described by Forbes as the "New Relic for data", Monte Carlo supports some of the world's most prestigious companies, including Fox, Roche, Honeywell, and CreditKarma to deliver trustworthy data + AI at scale.

Backed by Accel, Redpoint Ventures, Notable Capital, ICONIQ Growth, and Salesforce Ventures, Monte Carlo is powering the future of reliable data + AI.

About the Team

The growth team works across the entire app to drive user activation and revenue growth through rapid experimentation and data-driven engineering. We build features that convert visitors into active users and help customers see the value of our application. We are a small versatile team that prioritizes shipping quickly and learning from our experiments.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Front-End Engineer to take significant ownership of features that help customers adopt Monte Carlo's observability platform and get the most value with our consumption-based pricing model. The role will involve end-to-end development, from helping formulate customer requirements and designs to full production implementation. You will collaborate with a small team of seasoned engineers, and your work will greatly impact our product, revenue, and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own projects from inception to deployment, take on more responsibility with fewer rules, and act like an owner.

  • Working with the product team and other stakeholders to identify and iteratively deliver value to customers.

  • Lay a great web foundation for other engineers to build on, helping them move fast (e.g., through reusable components) and with high quality (e.g., applying design patterns and principles, increasing test coverage).

  • Improve our tooling for shipping experiments quickly and building our customer analytics capabilities

  • Navigate with some ambiguity while solving problems creatively from the ground up and tenaciously pursuing solutions to difficult challenges.

Required Qualifications
  • You have 7+ years of experience delivering production-grade frontend code, performing code reviews, and working on full-stack application design and architecture.

  • 3+ years of recent React experience.

  • Strong JavaScript and Typescript skills and experience developing with React framework on a large, complex codebase.

  • Experience with testing frameworks such as react-testing-library, playwright, or Cypress is required.

  • Experience tech-leading critical projects or initiatives within your team and organization.

  • You are ready to thrive, communicate with your team, and collaborate with others in a fast-paced environment

  • You're product-minded and user-driven

  • You're pragmatic and biased towards action; you're able to see the bigger picture and reason about prioritization and scope

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with GraphQL and/or API design

  • Some experience with full-stack frameworks and database systems

  • Some experience with AWS or other Cloud infrastructure

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
