We are looking for a talented candidate with solid web development to join the Yahoo Finance Web team. The candidate will work in an agile environment, and be responsible for building and maintaining web applications. In addition, this candidate will optimize presentation layer components for performance and an exceptional user experience. This candidate will collaborate directly with a cross-functional team of architects, designers, front-end and back-end engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to facilitate the design and development process. Ultimately, the work will have a direct impact on the user experience of our customers.

Responsibilities: 

  • Build responsive and compelling Web applications and components.

  • Code using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and AJAX.

  • Identify performance bottlenecks in JavaScript components and data service layer.

  • Proactively optimize for scalability, efficiency, and maintainability in a practical way

  • Follow good coding, testing, and documenting best practices and adhere to existing standards.

  • Ensure the quality of code by writing tests and doing code reviews.

  • Build reusable code and libraries.

  • Design frameworks and tools that empower other developers on your team.

  • Own features from inception to implementation and launch.

A Lot About You:

  • Bachelors or greater in Computer Science or equivalent (e.g. 5+ years of work experience).

  • 5+ years of professional experience with modern Web technologies.

  • You have a deep understanding and solid and versatile experience with standard web technologies.

  • You have a deep knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, XML, and cross-browser platforms.

  • You have good knowledge of usability principles and best practices is required.

  • You have knowledge of SEO principles.

  • Experience with Electron.js is highly preferred.

  • You can implement solutions that are user responsive and efficient.

  • You are capable of implementing a resilient web architecture.

  • You have experience with browser testing and debugging.

  • You are analytical and you have a keen eye for details.

  • You have great problem-solving skills and you work well in a team.

  • You’re curious about new technologies and you're driven to find ways to implement them in your work.

  • You have experience with coaching and mentoring other developers.

  • You have excellent multitasking skills.

  • You can oversee and drive projects forward.

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,250.00 - $266,875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
