As a Senior Front-end Engineer, you will drive the design, development, and maintenance of our internal user, and external customer-facing web applications. You’ll work closely with product, UX, and back-end teams to translate complex energy-domain requirements into intuitive, high-performance React interfaces.
This is an onsite position located in Santa Monica, CA.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement responsive, accessible, and performant web UIs using React (hooks, context) and TypeScript
Collaborate with UX/design teams to translate wireframes and prototypes (Figma, Miro, Sketch) into production-quality code
Integrate with RESTful APIs, managing application state via Redux, Redux-toolkit and RTK-query/
Write and maintain e2e tests (Playwright) and participate in peer code reviews
Implement CI/CD pipelines for front-end builds and deployments (CircleCI)
Mentor junior developers and help define front-end best practices and style guides
Troubleshoot and resolve cross-browser and device compatibility issue
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of professional front-end development, with at least 3 years in React/TypeScript
Strong command of HTML5, CSS3 (Flexbox/Grid), and modern JavaScript (ES6+) and Typescript.
Experience consuming and testing against RESTful services.
Proficiency with Git and collaborative branching workflows
Solid understanding of responsive design, web accessibility (WCAG), and performance optimization
Preferred Qualifications
Background in the energy or hardware-integrated software space (IoT dashboards, BESS)
Knowledge of AWS services (Cognito, S3, Route 53) or Docker for front-end deployments
Proficiency with Material-UI (MUI) component library and Storybook.
Agile/Scrum development experience using JIRA for task management
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI)
Experience with developing backend services using Java, Spring boot, MVC framework.
Familiarity with GraphQL (Apollo, Relay) and real-time data flows (WebSockets)
Familiarity with Next.js or other SSR/SSG frameworks
Solid understanding of relational and non-relational databases.
Authentication & Authorization: Experience integrating OAuth2/OpenID Connect and implementing role-based access controls in SPAs. Familiarity with Auth0 for authentication and authorization processes.
GDPR & Privacy Compliance: Hands-on experience implementing GDPR requirements in web applications (consent management, data subject access requests, data minimization)
Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role based in Santa Monica, CA is $99,500.00 - $149,200.00. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long-term incentives.
