🚀 About Us

We’re StackBlitz!

We’re the team behind WebContainers, the groundbreaking technology that made it possible to run Node.js right in your browser. No installs, no setup, just instant dev environments. That innovation kickstarted our journey in 2019 and powers the blazing-fast online IDE used by over a million developers every month.

But we didn’t stop there.

We took everything we learned from building WebContainers and used it to create Bolt.new. The fastest way to go from idea to production without writing traditional code. Think of it as the Canva or Figma for full-stack applications: a next-gen, AI-powered builder that lets you create, edit, and deploy web and mobile apps instantly, right in your browser.

WebContainers make it possible. Bolt.new brings it to life. Together, they reimagine what it means to build software lowering the barrier to entry, speeding up workflows, and unlocking creativity for the next generation of builders.

We’re a globally distributed, fully remote team of passionate engineers, designers, and creatives building the future of software development. If you love shipping fast, solving real problems, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible we’d love to meet you.

✨ About This Opportunity

A Senior Frontend Engineer at Bolt bridges the gap between design and front-end engineering while driving architectural excellence and technical innovation across our platform.

This role is perfect for someone who combines deep front-end architectural expertise with a passion for crafting intuitive user experiences. You thrive on building scalable systems, sweating the small details, and implementing UI improvements that make a big impact.

🛠️ How You'll Contribute
  • Own front-end design refinements, improving UI/UX across our site and products.
  • Evolve our frontend architecture, ensuring maintainability, scalability, and performance across our platform.
  • Drive technical excellence by identifying and reducing technical debt, establishing best practices, and implementing architectural improvements.
  • Implement design updates and polish interactions, ensuring a seamless user experience.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Engineering, and Marketing to translate ideas into visually compelling, high-performance interfaces.
  • Architect and expand our design system and component library, ensuring consistency across all user touchpoints.
  • Lead the development of reusable React components and establish patterns that enhance developer productivity and code maintainability.
  • Implement and optimize complex UI interactions, while maintaining a focus on performance, accessibility, usability, and performance, ensuring our platform remains intuitive for both technical and non-technical users.
  • Prototype and iterate quickly, refining designs based on feedback and data.
  • Champion modern frontend development practices, mentoring team members and contributing to technical decision-making.
💡 Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in front-end development, design engineering, or a hybrid role.
  • Proficiency in React, TypeScript, and modern frontend architecture patterns.
  • Strong foundation in HTML, CSS (Tailwind), and frontend performance optimizations.
  • Experience leading architectural initiatives and driving technical excellence in complex web applications.
  • Familiarity with design tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD, and a passion for visual polish.
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems and component libraries.
  • Strong UX sensibilities, with an ability to balance aesthetics and functionality.
  • An eye for detail—you care about spacing, typography, animations, and micro-interactions.
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills are required, as this role involves frequent collaboration with team members, stakeholders, and customers where English is the primary working language.
🎯 Bonus Points
  • Experience with Web Workers, Web Components, Remix or developer tooling.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
