Lead end-to-end customer rollouts of an AI-native planning platform: build and maintain data integrations, create performant financial models, develop AI-driven automated test harnesses, resolve data and performance issues, ship product fixes, and partner with finance stakeholders to operationalize solutions and feed product improvements back into engineering.

About the Role

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you own the technical success of a customer's rollout end to end — from initial data integration through modeling, validation, and go-live — and you feed what you learn directly back into the product. This is not a services or implementation-consulting role: you write code, you own integrations as engineering artifacts, and you work shoulder-to-shoulder with customers to get a next-generation planning platform into production. You should be as comfortable in a customer's data warehouse tracing a reconciliation discrepancy as you are in a working session with their FP&A team explaining why a consolidation is behaving the way it is. The strongest candidates have worked inside EPM/CPM products before and understand how they behave in the real world.

What You'll Do

  • Own customer rollouts end to end — data integration, model build-out, validation, and production cutover — as the primary technical owner.
  • Build AI-driven automated test harnesses to validate every new product release against real customer use cases and models, catching regressions before they reach customers. This is a critical function of the role: you'll use AI to generate, run, and evaluate test cases at scale across diverse customer configurations.
  • Build and maintain data integrations between customer source systems (ERP, GL, data warehouses) and our platform, treating them as durable, version-controlled engineering deliverables rather than throwaway scripts.
  • Translate real-world requirements in financial and operational modeling into correct, performant models on the platform.
  • Diagnose and resolve data, performance, and correctness issues — often deep in SQL, source data, and consolidation logic.
  • Ship bug fixes and feature extensions directly against the platform — make targeted product changes to unblock customers and close gaps surfaced in the field, rather than only filing tickets and waiting on core engineering.
  • Act as the feedback loop to product and engineering: surface friction, propose fixes, and where warranted, build them.
  • Partner with customer stakeholders across finance and operations, earning trust as someone who understands their domain and can make the software do what they need
What We're Looking For
  • 10+ years in software engineering, with meaningful time spent on or around an EPM/CPM/financial planning product.
  • Direct experience with a platform such as OneStream, Vena, Prophix, Anaplan, Planful, or TM1/ Planning Analytics — as an engineer, solutions architect, or technically deep implementer.
  • Proficiency in a modern application language — Java, C#, or TypeScript — with the ability to read, extend, and ship changes in a production codebase.
  • Experience building automated test frameworks or harnesses, ideally using AI or LLM-based approaches to generate, execute, and evaluate test cases at scale.
  • Strong SQL and database fundamentals: schema design, query performance, joins and aggregation semantics, and reasoning about data at scale.
  • Integration experience with ERP/GL systems and data warehouses (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Snowflake, BigQuery).
  • A customer-facing disposition — you can run a working session, absorb domain nuance, and communicate clearly with finance stakeholders who don't think in code.
  • Sound judgment on correctness and auditability: you understand that in financial systems a wrong number is worse than a slow one.
  • Understanding of financial consolidation, multi-entity / multi-currency, allocations, or driver-based planning.
  • Domain exposure to CPG or manufacturing operational planning.
  • Experience with AI-assisted or AI-native tooling in a production data context.
  • A track record of turning repeated customer pain into product improvements.
Why this Role

You'll be an early member of the Forward Deployed Engineering team, working on an AI-native platform at the point where it meets real customers and real data. What you learn in the field shapes what we build next — your work lands in production and in the product.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
