BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Software Engineer/Java Developer for the Mobility Air Forces Automated Flight Planning Service (MAFPS) program. The qualified candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that works in a rapid development environment. The qualified candidate should have a mathematics background or an aeronautical engineering background and have experience in development of scientific and mathematical software applications and algorithms.
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a computer related field
  • 6 to 8+ years of software design, code and test experience
  • US Citizenship with eligibility to obtain Secret clearance
  • Strong software architecture, design, and development experience using Java.
  • Software development, coding, and debugging experience across the entire development lifecycle
  • Experience integrating with external components and APIs and working with schemas
  • Ability to innovate, evaluate and research new technologies while staying abreast of industry trends
  • Motivated individual with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Strong fundamentals to implement, and sometimes design, novel algorithms and software features.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Knowledge of Military Mission Planning
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with version control systems, such as Git
  • Experience with Agile development and issue tracking systems, such as JIRA
  • Experience with software build tools, such as Visual Studio and Eclipse
  • Experience developing RESTful services using Spring, Java, and JSON
  • Understanding of Java Spring Micro-Services using 12 Factor design principles
  • Experience designing and developing high level software architectures
  • Experience using DevSecOps tools such as Git, Docker, Fortify, Nexus, Jenkins
  • SAFeAgile framework or concepts
  • Development of scientific and mathematical software applications and algorithms.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $130355 - $221603
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
