We welcome you to join us on this journey as we build an entertainment brand committed to restoring faith in things worth believing in.

We are seeking a strategic Senior Analyst with finance and analytics expertise to join our Strategy team. This role combines financial modeling, content investment analysis, and performance analytics to guide greenlight decisions and drive profitable growth for our streaming platform. You will build valuation models for content investments, evaluate title performance across distribution windows, and provide financial recommendations that shape our content slate and platform strategy as we launch and scale Wonder.

This is a unique opportunity to build the finance and strategy function at a mission-driven streaming platform from the ground up. Your greenlight models and investment analyses will directly influence what content we produce, how we value theatrical and streaming performance, and how we scale Wonder profitably. You'll work closely with creative, production, finance, and executive teams, seeing the immediate impact of your financial recommendations on real content decisions. Join a company where financial discipline meets purpose and help us prove that values-based content can captivate a global audience while building a sustainable, high-growth streaming business.

Key Responsibilities

Greenlight Valuation & Deal Analysis: Partner with finance and production teams to build greenlight models for all potential original content. Assess the ROI of content investments by developing financial models that incorporate data-driven inputs on title performance across distribution windows (Streaming, Theatrical Box Office, and Home Video), subscriber impact, and production costs to inform content slate decisions.

Streaming Metrics and Unit Economics: Strategically evaluate key streaming platform metrics including Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), subscriber churn rates, retention cohorts, payback periods, and customer lifetime value (LTV) to optimize marketing spend and inform content investment decisions with clear ROI frameworks.

Financial Planning & Budget Support: Partner with finance leadership to support annual content budget planning, investment allocation decisions across the content slate, and ongoing forecast updates based on subscriber acquisition trends, content performance, and competitive dynamics.

Content Investment Analysis: Evaluate the financial performance and ROI of original productions and licensed content by analyzing viewership metrics, cost per hour viewed, subscriber attribution, completion rates, engagement patterns, and audience retention to guide future investment priorities and assess P&L impact.

Competitive Benchmarking: Monitor industry trends and competitor streaming platforms, analyzing their content strategies, investment patterns, release tactics, and financial performance to identify best practices, market opportunities, and inform our competitive positioning.

Audience Insights and Segmentation: Conduct deep-dive analyses on viewer demographics, preferences, viewing hours, and behavior to identify high-value audience segments and inform content acquisition, marketing, and programming strategies that maximize engagement, drive subscriber growth, and minimize churn.

A/B Testing and Experimentation: Design and analyze experiments related to content presentation, user interface, promotional strategies, and recommendation algorithms to optimize user experience, viewing hours, and retention metrics with measurable business impact.

Planning & Methodology Development: Design and deploy methodologies that inform content greenlighting, audience forecasting, performance benchmarking, and investment prioritization to ensure data-driven, financially sound decision-making.

Reporting and Visualization: Build comprehensive dashboards and reports for leadership, production teams, and content executives, translating complex financial and performance data into clear, actionable insights that drive decision-making around content ROI, CAC optimization, and churn reduction. Own intercompany data reporting and serve as point of contact for all data-related tasks, including oversight of all external reporting obligations to studio partners.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative field; candidates with Statistics, Data Science, or Mathematics backgrounds who have strong financial modeling capabilities are also encouraged to apply.
  • 4-6 years of experience in finance, FP&A, strategy consulting, or business analytics with strong financial modeling capabilities, preferably within streaming media, entertainment, subscription businesses, or technology companies with exposure to content valuation, greenlight processes, CAC/LTV economics, and investment analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and Excel; strong SQL and data visualization skills (Tableau, Looker, or similar); experience with Python or R for statistical analysis is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of streaming platform metrics, subscription business economics, content valuation frameworks, distribution window analysis, and cohort-based retention analysis, including experience building business cases and greenlight models.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to build financial models, extract insights from large complex datasets, and translate them into investment recommendations and strategic guidance.
  • Clear communication skills with experience presenting financial analysis and data-driven recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including creative executives and senior leadership.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
