Maven AGI sits at the center of the hottest intersection in tech right now: AI and customer experience. While most "AI support" tools still focus on FAQs and deflection, Maven's agents actually do the work — autonomously interacting with customers, personalizing the conversation, and resolving complex issues, not just providing information.

That's not a soft ROI story. It's the most direct cost-displacement case in enterprise software today: real human work, replaced, at a fraction of the cost — not "savings if you use it well," but savings because the agent did the ticket instead of a person. That's the pitch you get to walk into every enterprise deal with.

Founded in 2023 by executives from HubSpot, Google, and Stripe, Maven builds conversational AI agents that don't just answer customers — they act: going into a customer's account, finding the actual problem, and fixing it, with no human required. Customers like Dell, ServPro, HardRock, Tripadvisor, Clio, and Thumbtack rely on Maven, with independently verified results — customers report resolving 70–93% of interactions autonomously — and G2 has named Maven a High Performer and Best Meets Requirements across multiple categories this spring.

Position Overview

We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Senior Accounting & Finance Manager to help build and scale our finance function as Maven grows.

This is a true builder's role with accounting at its core. You'll own key accounting operations and the monthly close end-to-end, partner closely with our outsourced bookkeeping team, and build the systems, processes, controls, and documentation that will support Maven through its first financial statement audit and beyond.

You'll also have the opportunity to broaden your experience across FP&A, treasury, SaaS metrics, investor and board reporting, and other strategic finance initiatives alongside our VP of Finance. Prior experience across all of these areas isn't required — we're looking first and foremost for someone with strong accounting fundamentals who is excited to learn, take ownership, and build.

This will start as an individual contributor role reporting directly to our VP of Finance and will be one of the foundational hires on Maven's internal finance team. It's a great opportunity for someone who wants significant ownership, exposure to company leadership, and the chance to help build a finance function from the ground up at a fast-moving AI company.

What You'll Do:
  • Own and improve core accounting processes across AP, AR, payroll, collections, reconciliations, and the general ledger

  • Own the monthly close process end-to-end, partnering with our outsourced bookkeeping team to deliver timely and accurate financial statements

  • Manage revenue recognition, including ASC 606, contract review, deferred revenue, performance obligation analysis, and allocation for SaaS contracts

  • Oversee Accounts Payable through Ramp, including vendor management, approvals, expense reporting, and spend controls

  • Manage Accounts Receivable and collections to support healthy and predictable cash inflows

  • Coordinate payroll and benefits with our People team and PEO, including reviewing sales commission calculations before payroll runs

  • Establish, document, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and close processes

  • Build audit-ready documentation and workpapers to prepare Maven for its first financial statement audit

  • Manage SaaS sales tax and nexus compliance with third-party partners and tools as Maven expands into new states and countries

  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate finance workflows, and help evaluate and implement systems as we scale beyond our current stack

  • Partner with the VP of Finance on budgeting, forecasting, cash management, SaaS metrics, investor and board reporting, and other strategic finance initiatives

  • Help build the playbook for a finance organization that can scale with Maven, with the opportunity to help hire and mentor future team members as the function grows

Who You Are:
  • 4–6 years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience, with strong hands-on accounting fundamentals

  • Experience owning or playing a significant role in the monthly close and producing accurate, reliable financial reporting

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting processes, including reconciliations, AP, AR, payroll, and internal controls

  • Experience in public accounting, ideally including Big Four audit experience, is strongly preferred

  • Startup or high-growth technology company experience is preferred, but we're also excited to meet strong public accounting candidates ready to make the jump into a hands-on operating role

  • SaaS experience is a plus, particularly exposure to ASC 606, deferred revenue, and SaaS business metrics

  • Comfortable managing outsourced partners and owning outcomes without needing to personally book every transaction

  • Able to research technical accounting questions, develop a point of view, and drive issues through resolution

  • Highly detail-oriented and organized while understanding how to prioritize and operate pragmatically in a fast-moving startup

  • Comfortable moving between detailed execution and higher-level problem solving — no task is too small when it helps move the business forward

  • CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus

  • Experience implementing or improving finance systems, equity/cap table administration, or FP&A is a plus, but not required

How You Show Up:
  • We are customer champions. You put users at the center of your thinking, advocate for their needs, and design solutions that make their lives measurably better.

  • We are bold in action. You move with urgency and courage, unafraid to challenge convention and take smart risks in pursuit of meaningful outcomes.

  • We are data-driven and insight guided. You make thoughtful decisions grounded in evidence, combining data with intuition to guide strategy and execution.

  • We are stronger together. You bring others along, value diverse perspectives, and contribute to a culture of trust and shared ownership.

What We Offer:
  • 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums covered for you, 80% for family

  • HSA and FSA plans available

  • Unlimited vacation and 100% paid parental leave

  • Free lunches, onsite gym, and commuter benefits for in-office employees

  • $1,000 home office stipend and $5,000/year for continuing education

  • Competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and meaningful equity

  • ~130 people, built from zero in under three years — small enough that your work is visible, big enough to already be running at Dell- and Tripadvisor-scale

Maven AGI is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and is committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels included.

Join us in changing the face of enterprise customer support.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
