You’ll play a critical role in aligning financial decisions with our R&D strategy and long-term vision.

Why join Sprout’s Finance team?
As a member of Sprout’s Finance team, you’ll help position the company for future growth while upholding compliance and integrity at the highest level. No matter your role, everyone on the team has the opportunity to help create best-in-class processes and practices that scale with the organization. Our team is unique because we value transparency and direct ownership—meaning, you’ll always have our trust to contribute meaningfully to our department and organizational success.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead forecasting (headcount and discretionary spend), budgeting, and performance analytics (OKRs, KPIs) for the R&D function to guide strategic decisions and create long-term value
  • Drive modeling related to product investments and pricing & packaging, with a deep understanding of the technical roadmap within the R&D organization
  • Deliver insightful reporting and analysis to senior leadership in support of Sprout’s financial planning processes
  • Partner cross-functionally with teams including Product, GTM, Accounting, and People Ops to provide strategic recommendations grounded in financial data
  • Play a key role in our annual planning cycle, monthly forecasts, and performance metrics reporting

Sprout Social’s FP&A team is a critical driver of the company’s strategic direction and growth. We’re a fast-paced, high-impact team that thrives on data, collaboration, and innovation. As our business scales, we’re seeking a Senior Finance Manager who can evolve our financial strategy alongside it.

What You’ll Bring
You’re analytically minded, highly collaborative, and able to balance strategic thinking with attention to detail. You’re comfortable navigating an evolving environment, excited to build scalable processes, and passionate about enabling data-informed decisions. If you're looking to join a collaborative, high-performing FP&A team that values transparency, accountability, and strategic partnership, this could be the role for you!

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 9+ years of FP&A experience, with 2+ years of R&D-specific FP&A experience (e.g., R&D efficiency metrics, cloud hosting spend)
  • Proven ability to build enterprise SaaS financial models and metrics
  • Strong knowledge of financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting, with the ability to clearly present complex financial information
  • Experience delivering reporting and analysis to executives and cross-functional teams
  • Experience with financial planning and data visualization tools, such as Tableau and Vena

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leveraging AI or machine learning tools to enhance forecasting accuracy, identify trends, or automate financial analysis
  • A track record of improving and scaling FP&A processes and systems
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate financial data into strategic insights

How You’ll Grow

Within 1 month, you’ll plant your roots, including:

  • Completing Sprout’s New Hire training program alongside other new team members
Developing a strong understanding of our product, customers, and business model
  • Diving into our financial planning tools and reporting frameworks
  • Learning the monthly forecast cycle and key performance reporting

Within 3 months, you’ll start hitting your stride by:

  • Owning end-to-end forecasting for R&D
  • Delivering variance analyses and insights to support leadership decision-making
  • Beginning to drive process improvements in forecasting and planning
  • Building and maintaining complex financial models for key growth initiatives
  • Informally supporting junior team members by sharing best practices or reviewing models as needed

Within 6 months, you’ll be making a clear impact through:

  • Becoming a trusted advisor to senior leadership across R&D
  • Partnering with Product leaders to align financial plans with strategic goals
  • Expanding FP&A capabilities through mentorship, process refinement, and tooling improvements

Within 12 months, you’ll make this role your own by:

  • Acting as a key strategic finance partner to R&D and Product leadership, helping drive alignment between investment decisions and business outcomes
  • Owning and evolving long-range planning models for R&D, incorporating headcount, tooling, and roadmap-driven scenarios

Of course, what is outlined above is the ideal timeline. Business needs may shift, and other projects or responsibilities could be added at your manager’s discretion.

Whenever possible, Sprout wants to provide our team with the flexibility to work in the location that makes the most sense for them. Sprout maintains a remote workforce in many places in the United States. However, we are not set up in all states, so please look at the drop-down box in our application to see whether your state is listed. Few roles require an office setting. If your position requires a physical presence in a Sprout office, it will be evident in the job listing and your offer letter.

Individual base pay is based on various factors, including work location, relevant experience and skills, the responsibility of the role, and job duties/requirements. In the United States, we have two geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires are:

  • Zone 1 (New York, California, Washington): $150,650 (min), $188,320 (mid), $226,000 (max) USD annually
  • Zone 2 (All other US states): $137,000 (min), $171,200 (mid), $205,400 (max) USD annually

The listed ranges represent the full earning potential in this position. Starting salaries for well-qualified new hires are typically around the midpoint of the range. These ranges were determined by a market-based compensation approach; we used data from trusted third-party compensation sources to set equitable, consistent, and competitive ranges. We also evaluate compensation bi-annually, identify any changes in the market and make adjustments to our ranges and existing employee compensation as needed.

Base pay is only one element of an employee's total compensation at Sprout. Every Sprout team member has an opportunity to receive restricted stock units (RSUs) under Sprout’s equity plan. Employees (and their dependents) are covered by medical, dental, vision, basic life, accidental death, and dismemberment insurance, and Modern Health (a wellness benefit).  Employees are able to enroll in Sprout’s company’s 401k plan, in which Sprout will match 50% of your contributions up to 6% with a maximum contribution. Sprout offers “Flexible Paid Time Off” and ten paid holidays. We have outlined the various components to an employee’s full compensation package here to help you to understand our total rewards package.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
