Job Summary:
We’re looking for a motivated, high-energy sales professional who is excited to join a startup and own pipeline generation as well as initial deal management.

As an Enterprise Sales Development Representative at Base.ai, you’ll play a critical role in fueling our top-of-funnel growth engine, including prospecting, qualifying leads, and booking meetings. You’ll be encouraged to use and experiment with AI-powered tools to accelerate prospecting, personalize outreach, and deal management. In addition to driving pipeline opportunities, you will manage deals for transactional product lines, running discovery calls, demos, and supporting the full sale cycle, giving you a clear path to grow into a closing role.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate Pipeline: Proactively source new opportunities through outbound calls, emails, LinkedIn outreach, additional social channels, and events.
  • Qualify Inbound Leads: Respond quickly to inbound leads, assess fit, and move qualified prospects into the pipeline.
  • Research and Nurture: Research target accounts and contacts within our ICP and personas. Craft personalized outreach strategies and nurture leads through consistent follow-ups and value-driven communication.
  • Build Relationships: Engage prospects and the industry at large on social and events.
  • Collaborate with Senior AEs: schedule qualified meetings and product demos, and support follow-ups.
  • Own the Sales Cycle: Manage discovery, demos, proposals, and closing for transactional/velocity deals.
  • Hit and Exceed Targets: Consistently achieve monthly and quarterly targets for outreach, meetings booked, pipeline generated, and revenue influenced.
  • Leverage AI Sales Tools: Use AI-powered tools (e.g., for prospecting, personalization, research, and pipeline management) to increase efficiency and productivity.
Experiment & Optimize: Test new AI-driven workflows to improve outreach quality, deal velocity, and conversion rates.
  • Stay Ahead: Share learnings and best practices with the sales team to keep us at the forefront of modern sales strategies.
  • Be a Team Player: Share market feedback with marketing, product, and leadership to improve our go-to-market strategy.
  • Stay Organized: Maintain clean data, track and update activity daily, and share conversion and progress reports in the CRM.
  • Professional and proactive contributor: Represent Base.ai with professionalism and enthusiasm at every touchpoint. Initiate activities to scale and improve leveraging AI.

Requirements:

  • 3-4 years of experience in sales (SDR, BDR, or similar).
  • Proven ability to prospect and generate new business opportunities.
  • Track record of managing multiple conversations and opportunities at once.
  • Strong discovery, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor messaging.
  • Strong resilience, persistence, and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and experience with sales tools such as Sales Navigator, email automation, and dialing software.
  • Driven, coachable, and eager to learn and grow into a larger role in Enterprise sales.
  • Comfortable using AI-enabled sales tools (e.g., for lead research, content personalization, CRM automation), and a Strong understanding of how AI can support sales productivity and customer engagement.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and integrate them into daily sales processes.
  • Curious and creative mindset — always looking for smarter, more efficient ways to prospect and close.

What We Offer:

  • Collaboration: Work closely with GTM teams - marketing, sales, CS, product, and the management team, in a collaborative environment with mentorship from sales leaders.
  • Growth Path: Clear path to move into a full-cycle Account Executive role.
  • Impact: Directly drive new revenue by both sourcing and closing business in an Enterprise AI & SaaS high-growth, category-defining company.
  • Compensation: Competitive base salary + uncapped commission + benefits.
  • Culture: Be part of a Startup team. No BS and high collaboration. Building, optimizing, and influencing many aspects of the company's GTM.

Work Environment:
This is a hybrid role, with flexibility to work remotely from the SF Bay Area and two days per week in our Palo Alto office. We’ve found that this cadence helps ensure strong communication, collaboration, and connection across the team, while still providing the autonomy of remote work.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
