About the Role:

Behind every great software company is the team building it. We are an engineering team of multicultural, highly collaborative, fully distributed, humble learners. We pride ourselves on building best-in-class products powered by innovative technologies.

As a Senior Engineering Manager in the Platform Pillar, you will lead two foundational teams: Core Platform and Integrations & IAM (IIAM). These distributed teams are at the heart of our product, responsible for everything from our core event-driven architecture, APIs, and data connectors to identity, access management, and authentication workflows. This is a high-impact, strategic role for a leader who is passionate about building the scalable, reliable, and secure foundation that enables the entire engineering organization to deliver value to our customers. You will be a key leader in our growing Polish engineering hub, partnering with the local Engineering Director to shape the culture and scale the organization in Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, inspire, and grow multiple distributed software engineering teams, fostering a culture of high trust and psychological safety.

  • Develop engineering talent through effective coaching, mentorship, and performance management, with a focus on growing senior and staff-level engineers.

  • Own the end-to-end delivery and operational excellence of your teams' portfolio, ensuring critical user-facing systems are reliable and secure at scale.

  • Partner with Product, Design, and other cross-functional leaders to set a clear vision, prioritize roadmaps, and align a long-term strategy that optimizes for the entire organization.

  • Provide technical leadership and direction by setting architectural guardrails and guiding major technical decisions without being a direct code contributor.

  • Establish and uphold rigorous engineering standards, including SLAs/SLOs, security best practices, and QA processes to accelerate delivery and improve product health.

  • Champion inclusive, async-first practices to ensure your teams, distributed across an ~8-hour time zone spread, can collaborate effectively.

Requirements

  • Extensive software development experience as an individual contributor, and a proven track record as an Engineering Manager leading multiple, distributed software engineering teams.

  • A strong product sense and a proven track record of delivering high-quality results across the full product lifecycle. This includes experience with B2B SaaS products, from backend services and APIs to the critical user-facing workflows they support.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical depth, diving deep into complex architectural problems and guiding senior engineers to sound decisions.

  • A strategic thinker, comfortable setting technical vision over a 6-12 month horizon and managing a complex portfolio of projects.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners in a remote-first environment.

  • A track record of hiring and developing senior talent, with a passion for helping engineers advance their careers.

  • High sense of ownership and a strong growth mindset; you are a collaborative, humble learner who can thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Bonus points:

  • Experience with Python.

  • Experience in the B2B SaaS market.

  • Demonstrated experience with modern, event-driven systems and scalable worker frameworks.

  • Strategic experience designing and scaling an API/Open API to foster a robust integrations ecosystem.

  • Experience building and operating complex data connector ecosystems, including with iPaaS solutions like Workato.

  • Experience building Identity, Authentication, or Access Management (IAM) solutions.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
