Lead and grow engineering teams to improve delivery velocity, remove cross-functional friction, introduce lightweight processes, prevent burnout, and contribute to architecture while hiring and developing engineers.

This is a remote position.

If you can move money instantly between friends, why does getting paid still feel stuck in the past?

We’re building a modern financial platform designed around real-world work—helping people access what they’ve earned the moment they’ve earned it. Instead of asking users to change their habits, our product integrates directly into the tools they already rely on daily—think scheduling systems, workforce platforms, and payroll infrastructure.

This isn’t another standalone fintech app. It’s embedded, invisible, and designed to fundamentally reshape how compensation flows.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to operate at the intersection of execution, systems thinking, and team health. This role is less about maintaining status quo and more about upgrading how engineering organizations function as they scale.

You’ll play a central role in turning fast growth into structured momentum—bringing clarity to complexity, improving how work moves across teams, and enabling engineers to consistently deliver high-impact outcomes.

What You’ll Do
  • Own delivery velocity and team output, ensuring a high-performing engineering org that ships consistently without unnecessary overhead.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of strong engineers through meaningful 1:1s, career guidance, and continuous feedback.

  • Identify and eliminate friction across Engineering, Product, Design, Data, and Operations—ensuring alignment and shared context.

  • Introduce lightweight systems and processes that improve clarity, documentation, and execution without slowing teams down.

  • Maintain a sustainable pace by actively managing workload, preventing burnout, and reinforcing healthy team dynamics.

  • Encourage experimentation with emerging technologies (including AI tooling) to improve productivity and problem-solving.

  • Partner closely on hiring—attracting and evaluating high-caliber engineers from mid-level through senior and staff.

RequirementsWhat We’re Looking For
  • 3–5+ years managing engineers, ideally within a high-growth startup environment.

  • Proven experience navigating ambiguity and scaling systems while actively building them.

  • Strong organizational instincts—you naturally bring structure to chaos and improve how teams operate.

  • Solid technical background with the ability to contribute to architectural discussions and earn credibility with engineers.

  • A people-first leadership style, with a focus on trust, transparency, and long-term growth.

BenefitsWhy This Role Stands Out
  • Direct influence on how an entire engineering organization operates and scales.

  • High autonomy—your decisions will shape workflows, culture, and execution.

  • A product with real-world impact, solving a problem millions of workers experience.

  • A team that values curiosity, experimentation, and continuous improvement.

Beyond the opportunity to shape a product with real-world impact alongside a thoughtful and driven team, the company offers a well-rounded set of benefits designed to support both your personal and professional life:

  • Comprehensive health coverage, including medical, dental, and vision, with options for family enrollment

  • Generous parental leave to support growing families

  • Retirement savings support and tax-advantaged accounts (including healthcare and dependent care options)

  • Flexible time off policies, including open vacation for salaried employees

  • A stipend to set up and optimize your home workspace

  • Early access to earned wages through the platform itself

  • Employer-sponsored short-term and long-term disability coverage

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
