About the Role:
Cloudflare's Product Platform team is looking for a dynamic and strategic leader to establish and grow our new Platform Connect team, which will be a part of the Enterprise Readiness pillar of the Platform team, in either Lisbon or Bangalore. The Platform Connect team's mission is to accelerate the adoption of our core platform features across various product teams by proactively integrating them into high-impact, high-usage products. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a strong technical background and a passion for building scalable, collaborative engineering teams.
The Platform Connect team will work closely with Product Platform teams, which are responsible for building Cloudflare products' control plane platform features, including Organization Management, Account Management, Config Management, Identity Access Management (IAM), API, and SDK.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership & Management:
    • Lead the recruitment and onboarding of the Platform Connect team.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous learning.
    • Establish clear communication protocols and work with teams across different time zones (US/London) to ensure alignment and knowledge transfer.
  • Strategy & Execution:
    • Establish and lead a dedicated team to perform proactive integrations of platform features such as Fine Grained Access Control (RBAC), Resource Tagging, Config Sharing etc into designated products.
    • Partner with Platform leadership and Product leadership to prioritize which products and features the team will focus on each quarter, using a data-driven approach.
    • Develop and share best practices, reusable code snippets, and comprehensive documentation to facilitate future integrations for other product teams.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Act as the primary interface between the Platform Connect team and the core Platform teams in the US/London, providing crucial feedback on the ease of integration and identifying feature gaps.
    • Work closely with key product teams to ensure successful integrations.
    • Collaborate with the Enterprise Readiness team and other core Platform teams on shared goals around feature adoption rates.
  • Technical Enablement:
    • Oversee the creation of training materials and workshops to enable product teams to self-serve integrations in the long run.
    • Define the team's role in providing Tier 2 support for integrated features, escalating to the core platform team when necessary.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a leadership role (Senior Engineering Manager or Director) managing software development teams.
  • Strong technical background in platform engineering, software development, or a related field.
  • Experience with relevant technologies like Terraform, RBAC and specific product domains mentioned in the strategy.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with experience working with distributed teams across different time zones.
  • A track record of driving technical initiatives and accelerating the adoption of new technologies or features within an organization.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
