The Senior Engineer will enhance the AI/MCP platforms by designing workflows, providing support, mentoring, and creating documentation for engineers.
Our Purpose
At Xero, we’re here to help you supercharge your business. We do this by automating routine tasks, surfacing actionable insights and connecting businesses with the right data, advisors and apps. When that happens, we’re not only making life better for small business, we’ll be building a stronger economy that can change the world.
About The Role
Join LaunchCrew to drive enhancements to our Agentic AI/MCP platforms and support our engineering productivity services. You’ll design, build and rollout multi-agent workflows that solve engineers’ most pressing jobs-to-be-done, improve day-to-day developer experience and reduce toil. You’ll also create how-to guides, sample code and demo to support workshops and product releases, mentor junior engineers, collaborate across functions and own operational health for the services delivered.
What You’ll Do
- Design, prototype and ship AI/MCP workflows and agent examples to streamline tasks such as pipeline migration and incident triage.
- Build and maintain the infrastructure behind MCP servers, and provide BAU support for Accelerator’s templates and CLI.
- Create concise guides, sample code, and demo scripts that help engineers learn our AI releases and empower them to upskill and build their own AI agents for their specific use cases.
- Deliver live demos and partner with facilitators to showcase real-world AI workflows.
- Own production support—triage incidents, drive reliability improvements and lead post-incident reviews.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with Education, Platform and Security teams to validate designs and share best practices.
- Run spikes on emerging AI/ML frameworks, gather metrics and feedback, and refine both code and enablement materials.
What You’ll Bring
- 3+ years’ experience building and operating backend services (for example, with .NET Core and Python) and defining CI/CD pipelines.
- Demonstrated ability to prototype end-to-end AI agents—spanning orchestration, deployment and monitoring.
- Strong track record creating developer-focused documentation, tutorials and demos.
- Excellent collaboration skills: you partner across functions, solicit feedback and drive consensus.
- Experiment-driven mindset: you thrive in ambiguity, iterate rapidly from spike to delivery and put users first.

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.
Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech
- Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
- Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
- Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
- Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
