Green Power Motor Company is a leading innovator in the electric vehicle industry, dedicated to designing and manufacturing sustainable, Commercial electric vehicles, predominantly battery electric school buses. We are seeking a talented Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in EV systems to join our dynamic team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge electric vehicle technologies. 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • System Design and Development:
    • Design and develop electrical systems for electric vehicles, including high-voltage battery systems, power electronics, inverters, chargers, and motor control systems.
    • Specify and select components for EV powertrains, ensuring compatibility, efficiency, and compliance with performance requirements.
    • Develop and optimize electrical architectures for vehicle platforms, focusing on safety, reliability, and scalability.
  • Battery Management Systems (BMS):

Indepth understanding and experience with BMS for lithium-ion battery packs, ensuring optimal performance, thermal management, and safety.

  • Knowledge of algorithms for state-of-charge (SOC), state-of-health (SOH), and fault detection.
  • Integration and Testing:
    • Lead integration of electrical systems into vehicle platforms, collaborating with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams.
    • Conduct system-level testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure performance meets design specifications.
    • Support vehicle-level testing, including dyno testing, thermal testing, and on-road validation.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure all electrical designs comply with industry standards (e.g.,SAE J1939, ISO 26262, UL, IEC) and regulatory requirements for EVs.
    • Implement safety protocols for high-voltage systems, including fault protection and emergency response mechanisms.
  • Collaboration and Leadership:
    • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on EV electrical systems.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, firmware, and mechanical engineers, to ensure seamless system integration.
    • Work with suppliers and partners to evaluate and integrate third-party components.
  • Innovation and Optimization:
    • Drive continuous improvement in electrical system efficiency, weight reduction, and cost optimization.
    • Stay updated on emerging EV technologies, such as wireless charging, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) systems, and next-generation power electronics.

Requirements

 Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 3 years focused on electric vehicle systems or related automotive applications.
    • Proven expertise in high-voltage systems, power electronics, and battery management systems for EVs.
    • Experience with automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
    • Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice) and harness or PCB design software (e.g., Altium, Cadence).
  • Skills:
    • Troubleshooting EV Systems and components
    • Strong understanding of EV powertrain components, including motors, inverters, and DC-DC converters.
    • Proficiency in designing and troubleshooting high-voltage systems (up to 800V or higher).
    • Knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and automotive quality standards.
    • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with EV charging systems (e.g., CCS, CHAdeMO, NACS).
    • Knowledge of thermal management systems for batteries and power electronics.
    • Familiarity with embedded systems and firmware development for EV applications.

 Physical Requirements:

Considerable physical activity with prolonged periods of sitting and computer work. May require handling of objects that can weigh up to 25 pounds. 


Working Environment:

Work is normally performed in an office work environment.
