Join the 2025 AIA Firm Award Winner shaping a more sustainable future.

LPA is a collective of designers, engineers, and researchers committed to tackling the biggest issues of our time. Our "No Excuses" integrated design approach was recognized by the AIA as “a trailblazer in sustainable, high-performance architecture". At LPA you’ll be part of the team that is changing the way the industry thinks about design and carbon emissions, built around the belief that we only achieve our goals when everybody has a seat at the table and all input is valued.

LPA is seeking a versatile Senior Editor to work within our Integrated Communications team. The ideal candidate would be someone who can work across a variety of journalistic forms and distill complex, jargon-rich topics into narrative content that a general audience—not just an architect or someone interested in the discipline—can read. We aim to produce content showcasing vibrant projects and solutions—how they came to be, and why the world of integrated design is so critical today.

This is an opportunity to join a thriving team producing a top-tier quarterly print magazine, engaging web articles and other branded content—and, moreover, a great company filled with brilliant colleagues.

Key Responsibilities and Capabilities:

  • Journalistic qualifications:

    • Demonstrated ability to write tight, interesting 300-word articles on architectural projects involving interviews and close coordination with key internal and external stakeholders.

    • Demonstrated ability to write longer journalistic features in the range of 700–1,200 words, involving interviews and various story formats (general features, roundups, Q&As, editorials, etc.)

● Writing web descriptions about firm projects

● Coverage of events (ribbon cuttings, awards presentations)

● Editorial support during photo and video shoots

● Interest in architecture, design, storytelling and sustainability

● Eye for detail, accuracy and journalistic rigor

● A sense of voice, story and style that transcends basic news writing and reporting, and more closely aligns with a magazine purview.

Additional Pluses:

● Background in writing about architecture, design, visual culture or a related field preferred

● Ability to work on brand marketing materials

● Ability to work on PR tasks as needed

● Ability to work on social media campaigns and copy as needed.

About LPA: LPA is a multi-discipline firm focused on collaboration, inclusion and an integrated design process that connects building performance and design excellence. Our success and influence on the industry reflect a culture that emphasizes diversity, education and promoting young talent, including CEO Wendy Rogers, who took over the role in 2017 after 30 years with the firm, starting as an intern.

Our firm breaks down the barriers between disciplines, drawing upon the expertise of the different teams—engineers, landscape architects, interior designers, planners—to find the best answers for each project. At every level, we’ve eliminated the traditional barriers to encourage collaboration and the flow of ideas. Every voice is heard. All input is valued. The focus is on the “we” not the “me” as we work with our clients and communities to develop projects that work better for people.

At LPA, we offer competitive salaries and a robust benefits package—including health and dental insurance, retirement and financial planning, wellness initiatives, and flexible work/life programs.

This position is eligible for an annual bonus. If you are hired at LPA, your base salary is based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience and/or project complexity. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.

LPA uses E-Verify to confirm the employment eligibility of new hires.

NOTICE TO RECRUITMENT AGENCIES AND RECRUITERS:

Please note that LPA does not accept unsolicited resumes from recruiters or employment agencies. In the absence of a signed contract, LPA will not agree to pay any recruiter fee. What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
