We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.

Ford’s Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team is charged with delivering the company’s vision of a fully electric transportation future. EVDD is customer-obsessed, entrepreneurial, and data-driven and is dedicated to delivering industry-leading customer experience for electric vehicle buyers and owners. You’ll join an agile team of doers pioneering our EV future by working collaboratively, staying focused on only what matters, and delivering excellence day in and day out. Join us to make positive change by helping build a better world where every person is free to move and pursue their dreams.

In this position...
Dimensional engineering is more than just the assembly of parts; it is all about paying attention to
detail, proactive assessment of design, and data-driven decision-making. Bring your experience to create
an exceptional product that delights customers at every touchpoint. As a member of the Ford Advance
EV team, you will collaborate closely with various cross-functional teams including but not limited to the
Design Studio, product engineering, manufacturing quality & operations teams to set and achieve
meticulous quality standards for our vehicles. From the conceptual stage to production, your expertise
will be integral in delivering a flawless experience to our customers.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

• Own 3D statistical variation analysis in 3DCS end to end — model build, results correlation,
issue resolution, and the recommendations that follow.
• Build and maintain large, multi-level vehicle assemblies in 3DCS, keeping models honest as the
design matures through the development cycle.
• Run 1D and 3D dimensional feasibility studies to prove design intent can actually be achieved in
production.
• Own the dimensional objectives for your commodity — driving issue resolution and
dimensional quality throughout the entire development cycle.
• Turn results into decisions — clear, data-driven recommendations and countermeasure
proposals that design and manufacturing teams can act on.
• Apply GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2009) to define, review, and validate product drawings and
dimensional requirements.
• Define and optimize datum and locating strategies that improve build quality and take
variation out of the vehicle.
• Architect body build sequences with dimensional accuracy, process variation, and
manufacturing feasibility front of mind.
• Solve problems in the room, not over email — partnering directly with Design Studio, product
engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
• Support every build phase, including quality analysis and dimensional check processes, and
drive lessons learned into what comes next.
• Grow the capability — help build dimensional engineering strength in the team, mentoring and
coaching as we scale.

Qualifications

You'll have...

•Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

• 5+ years in automotive Dimensional Engineering.
• 3+ years performing 3D statistical tolerance analysis in 3DCS.
• In-depth knowledge of GD&T standards (ASME Y14.5M-2009); ASME GD&T certification
preferred.
• Working knowledge of production and quality control processes in a manufacturing
environment.
• Tolerance analysis experience on aluminum and steel body structures.
• Familiarity with production and prototype manufacturing methods.
• Knowledge of DFMEA and DFMA.
• A genuine appreciation for dimensional variation in assemblies and for statistical analysis
methods.
• A track record of driving continuous improvement in dimensional quality and process
optimization.
• Strong numeracy, literacy, and logical reasoning.
• A creative, constructive, positive approach to problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the credibility to bring cross-functional
partners with you.

Even better, you may have...

• Advanced 3DCS model development and validation, including kinematics.
• High proficiency with CATIA, Enovia, or similar CAD/PLM tools, including drawing and modeling
methodologies.
• Experience using AI to work smarter, and the drive to stand up new programs, methods, and
capabilities where none exist today.
• Hands-on experience building and launching automotive products, including plant-side support.
• Battery electric vehicle architecture or advanced/pre-program development experience.
• Certificate of accomplishment from a recognized design institution, or equivalent expertise.
• Experience with Confluence and Jira.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other information management tools.
• Confidence presenting technical findings to leadership.
• An appetite for working cross-functionally in a fast-moving, high-performing team.
• A systems mindset, with the curiosity and drive to chase exceptional execution.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
