Position Summary:
The Senior Director, US Pricing & Contracting is a member of the US Market Access leadership team, reporting directly to the SVP, US Market Access. Responsible for leading the strategic planning for establishing price and contracting for formulary access for IVVD’s mAb therapies. This role is responsible for executing all elements of pricing and contracting strategies and tactics. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of PBMs, Health Plans, GPOs, payers, market access, reimbursement, pricing, and contracting. They will analyze contract profitability, offer leadership on pricing and contracting-related issues, and develop and implement effective strategies and tactics. The individual should be familiar with various pricing and contracting approaches most relevant for retail products. They will also need to collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders, including Market Access, Finance, Field Accounts, Brand, Legal, Compliance, and other key functional areas to ensure alignment and successful execution of strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead pricing research inclusive of identifying a research partner, overseeing interview guides and interview execution. Make recommendation for launch prices of IVVD’s products
- Selects external vendor partner for establishing launch pricing, support of pricing and contracting operations, and compliance with government price reporting
- Design pricing governance processes and lead the pricing committee
- Establishing and maintaining product prices with pricing services and compendia
- Collaborate across Brand Team, Market Access, Finance, Legal and other functional teams to develop and implement contracting and pricing strategy that effectively and efficiently meets brand strategic objectives
- Partner with Finance to support GTN forecasts and budgets and to ensure accurate government reporting and submission
- In collaboration with GTN vendor partner, maintain on-going perspective on current GTN activity and impact of inputs
- Work closely with Finance, to build the pricing and contracting framework and governance, including management of Pricing Committee
- Provide oversight and commentary regarding contract redlines through a working knowledge of Manufacturer/PBM/Payer Pharmaceutical Contracting language
- Develop and lead internal cross-functional product pricing lifecycle strategy
- Oversee proposal, financial and ROI analysis of various payer segments and channels in support of contracting goals
- Conduct analysis to assess identified competitive threats related to competitor pricing and/or contracting activity
- Develop and maintain internal contract performance reports for products
- Create and maintain information for customer business reviews and rebate obligations with key accounts
- Train the accounts teams and, where necessary, other field-based teams on new contracting programs
- Work with National Account Directors to ensure that all contract proposals are withing the framework of brand contract strategy, have been checked for accuracy from a financial perspective and verified to meet the internal definition of a profitable contract
- Develop payer & provider deal models to assess the implications of deal scenarios on gross-to-net revenue and support development of business cases for review & approval by the Pricing Committee
- Subject matter expert on ASP based Pricing Models, Medicaid, Medicare, PHS/340B and VA/DOD pricing calculations
- Evaluate market and product value and develop pricing analyses leading to formal recommendations for the pricing/contracting committee
- Analyze product markets, life cycle status, and competitive environments for products to make formal price recommendations aligned with corporate financial objectives
- Assess economic drivers and barriers related to IDNs, payers, customers, and patients that impact product utilization
- Present program/strategy updates to internal stakeholders
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree required
- Working knowledge of current US market access environment, including pricing environment and dynamics, payer coverage dynamics, and government pricing programs
- 10+ year’s relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry including at least 2 years in pricing and contracting (commercial and government segments)
- Experience in a combination of early launch and in-line price management with large pharma and biotech companies preferred
- Extensive knowledge of WAC, Medicare cost share, Medicaid Best Price, 340B, AMP, and Federal pricing
- Deep understanding of GPO, payer and customer segments relevant to brand product(s)
- Strong understanding of the US reimbursement across major payer segments (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and Federal segments)
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on pharmaceutical product pricing, discounting, and rebate analysis. Proven ability to access, analyze, and present data effectively
- Innovative thinker skilled in analyzing data, developing insights to identify develop, and execute strategic solutions
- Highly organized, able to meet deadlines, and work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and persuasively
- Strong commitment to high ethical values and healthcare compliance
- Effective in utilizing resources to prioritize and plan, making sound decisions, and adapting business plans as needed
- Deep understanding of patient types, treatment options, and patient flow within relevant ecosystems
- Experience leading a pharmaceutical pricing and contracting organization
- Communicates authentically and persuasively, maintaining a professional, positive, and enthusiastic presence in all interactions
- Embraces a growth mindset, operates with resilience in a dynamic environment, adapts to change, and is self-directed and accountable
- Efficient in managing administrative tasks and proficient in planning and organizing activities
- Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, business/marketing, or a related field; master's degree preferred
Salary and Benefits:
We offer a competitive base salary range, commensurate with experience. In addition to the salary, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, dental and vision coverage, term life and disability coverage, retirement plans, and stock option awards.
Pay Range
$220,000 - $293,000
The pay range represents the expected full-time base salary for this role at the time of posting. Actual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, skills, and education. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for both an annual short-term incentive (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive (e.g., equity), reflecting our commitment to rewarding strong performance and long-term impact.
