And now we are looking for a Senior Director, Translational Research to join our rapidly growing Life Science Data team. This role will focus on establishing and expanding partnerships with pharmaceutical companies while driving revenue for Tempus product line.
Senior Director, Translational Research
Tempus is looking for an experienced and strategic leader to join our rapidly growing Life Sciences Data team as the Senior Director of Translational Research and Data Solutions. This client-facing role is ideal for a professional who can integrate scientific and commercial functions to drive revenue and expand collaborations with biopharma. You will leverage Tempus's multi-modal data platform to advance drug discovery and improve patient care
Key Responsibilities:Strategic Partnerships and Revenue Growth
Cultivate and expand partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients to drive revenue and meet or exceed established goals.
Lead the development of targeted solutions for customers, leveraging Tempus' data and services to meaningfully impact their R&D and commercial objectives.
Proactively develop and implement scientific strategies and reports to drive customer engagement and become a trusted scientific advisor.
Build deep relationships with R&D and commercial executives at partner organizations to identify and support additional value-creation opportunities.
Scientific and Technical Leadership
Oversee the scientific project execution teams that deliver translational and real-world evidence projects, ensuring they meet contracted specifications, timelines, and budgets.
Lead the scientific data solutions team, helping partners understand Tempus data products and framing strategic collaborations.
Provide high-level guidance on the development and implementation of computational and statistical strategies, as well as the analysis of genomic and clinical data.
Ensure scalability, accuracy and scientific quality of all study analyses and deliverables.
Stay ahead of industry trends in computational biology, oncology, and AI to innovate our data products and workflows based on client feedback.
Support biopharma partnerships by developing proposals focused on early to mid-stage drug development, including patient and indication selection, and biomarker and combination strategies.
Provide scientific support on special projects, including the evaluation of emerging technologies and datasets.
Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with internal teams, including key account directors, business development, and alliance management, to align initiatives with broader business goals.
Communicate scientific and technical plans and outcomes to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting scientific excellence and a solution-oriented mindset.
Education: An advanced degree (PhD or MD) is preferred , ideally combining quantitative/computational skills (e.g., Computational Biology, Bioinformatics) with biological/medical knowledge (e.g., Cancer Biology, Immunology).
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience working with companies that serviced or used Life Sciences companies in R&D and/or Real-World Data. Experience in an industry setting.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, Python, and R, with experience in integrative methods to model multi-modal clinical and/or omics data.
Leadership: A proactive mindset that bridges ideas to implementable solutions and the ability to navigate a wide range of stakeholders to solve problems. Must have proven ability to build deep relationships with pharmaceutical stakeholders based on common scientific understanding.
Desired Traits: A positive and energetic approach, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and comfort with quick iterations.
CHI Salary Range: $190,000 - $270,000 USD
NYC/SF Salary Range: $220,000 - $290,000 USD
The expected salary range above is applicable if the role is performed from California and may vary for other locations (Colorado, Illinois, New York). Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits depending on the position.
