Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director, Strategic Sourcing to lead the Media, Digital, Marketing Technologies, and Events & Sponsorships categories. This role will be instrumental in driving the sourcing strategy, managing agency relationships, and optimizing spend for all marketing-related services and products. Partnership and influence are key to this role as this person will work with Marketing Agency Management, Regional Marketing Sourcing Leads, and Visa agency relationship owners throughout marketing. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of marketing procurement, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of delivering cost savings and value creation.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and Implement Sourcing Strategies - Lead the development and execution of comprehensive sourcing strategies for the marketing category, including media planning & buying, digital marketing, MarTech services, and sponsorship & events services.
  • Agency / Supplier  Management - Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and agencies. Together with Agency Management Team, represent a function-wide view to ensure Visa has a value-driven, comprehensive, fair and agile performance approach, incentive program and contract negotiation.
  • Category Management - Understand and interpret spend data, market trends, and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Provide oversight, guidance, and obtain buy in on category plans that align with business objectives from Marketing stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with marketing, finance, legal, and other internal stakeholders to understand business requirements, align sourcing strategies, and ensure seamless execution.
  • Risk Management- Identify and mitigate risks associated with the marketing supply base. Ensure continuity of supply and compliance with regulatory requirements. Ensure compliance with corporate policies and standards.
  • Negotiation - Strong negotiation skills, in complex environments that ensure the best deals and terms for the organization.
  • Decision Making - Ability to make informed decisions that can have a significant impact on the company's supply chain and financial performance.
  • Thought Leadership and Development - Lead, mentor, and develop a team of sourcing professionals directly and within the extended regional sourcing category team structure. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Provide consultation, strategic oversight and council to global and regional agency owners in driving value, sharing best practices, and conflict resolution and remediation.
  • Accountable Compensation Program - Together with Marketing Agency Management, finance and agency owners, gather and consolidate required data to meet Visa KPIs across marketing objectives and 360 performance review for incentive compensation.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD) or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD) PhD with 9+ years of experience
  • 15+ years of experience in Strategic Sourcing in a large matrixed global organization or in the consulting industry
  • 10+ years leading the development and management of category plans and sourcing strategies.
  • 5+ years of leading a team. Proven track record of developing long-term capabilities in others and across a global organization, to develop best-in-class teams and sharing talent across the organization
  • Deep understanding of how Product Benefits plays into the overall benefits and value proposition of an organization
  • Past experiences challenging the status quo by developing business cases for change through leveraging business acumen, market intelligence, and insights to drive a broad strategic impact across an organization
  • Demonstrated contract and agreement negotiation experience, including development of negotiating plans and strategies for corporate services
  • Strong relationship-management skills and ability to communicate effectively, and collaborate with, senior-to-exec management. You need to be able to tell compelling stories through insights and data

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 200,000 to 312,500 per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
