About You  

You bring deep experience overseeing a multi-store retail business with full P&L responsibility, grounded in operational excellence and disciplined execution. Analytical and thoughtful in your approach, you use data, financial insight, and clear performance metrics to guide decisions while keeping the customer and brand experience at the center of everything. You are known for building and maintaining strong teams and operational foundations, including clear expectations and operating systems to support best practices, rigorous reporting and KPIs, and disciplined people and inventory practices. You create the clarity and inspiration teams need to perform at a high level and deliver a consistently elevated, on-brand in-store experience. 


About The Role 

The Senior Director, Retail leads goop’s retail business with a focus on scalability, operational excellence, and an elevated in-store experience that brings the brand to life every day. This role ensures the retail team performs at a high level, balancing commercial rigor with brand integrity, customer connection, and thoughtful execution. Through data-informed decision-making, strong operating systems, clear priorities, and a deep understanding of the brand, the Senior Director drives the retail organization towards scalable, profitable operations at the business unit level and the store level. This role leads by clarity, consistency, and passion so that teams can meet sales goals, operate efficiently, and deliver a seamless, distinctly goop retail experience. 


Responsibilities Include: 

  • Own overall retail performance - optimizing sales, margin, and profitability through disciplined, data-driven decision-making. 
  • Own the retail customer experience - standardizing every touchpoint for customers so that their experience is consistently on-brand and on-par with their expectations. 
  • Lead and develop retail teams - setting clear expectations and accountability for culture, performance, customer experience, and sales results. 
  • Oversee retail operating systems and performance reporting that support consistent, seamless uptime for essential functions and real-time information visibility across all stores. 
  • Partner with finance and planning to align forecasts, budgets, and assortments with store-level performance. 
  • Drive standardization of systems and processes across stores to improve efficiency, training, clienteling, policy compliance, and sales productivity. 
  • Work cross-functionally with peers to deliver business strategies, operational systems, and marketing programs that support the unique needs of the retail stores while effectively laddering up to the brand and company goals and strategies. 
  • Set retail expansion goals and strategies - create pro forma templates, playbooks, and timelines for new store openings.  

Qualifications & Experience 

  • 12+ years of progressive retail leadership experience within fashion or lifestyle brands; luxury experience a plus. 
  • Proven ability to drive strong sales performance and sustained profitability across a multi-store business. 
  • Hands-on, strategic leadership skills that enable you to move seamlessly between big-picture priorities and day-to-day execution. 
  • Highly analytical with strong judgment, using data and insight to inform decisions and optimize performance. 
  • Demonstrated success developing leaders and building high-performing, accountable teams. 
  • Natural relationship-builder with strong presence, clear communication, and a collaborative leadership style. 

 FAQ 

  • Compensation: $185,000 - $215,000 + Equity. This is a full-time, exempt role. Please note that this range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for the Los Angeles, CA based position. Goop, in good faith, reasonably expects to pay the position within this salary range. Goop provides the salary range in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws. The actual base salary will depend on numerous factors such as: experience, training, knowledge and skills, and if the location of the job changes.
