SENIOR DIRECTOR, PRICING & PAYER STRATEGY

POSITION SUMMARY:   

The Senior Director, Pricing & Payer Strategy is responsible for the development and implementation of the US payer brand strategies and pricing and contract (P&C) strategies for Day One’s commercialized product in pLGG (pediatric low grade glioma) as well as other pipeline adult indication products in its portfolio. Reporting to the VP, Global Market Access, this role will be a member of the Market Access leadership team, and will collaborate with multiple functional groups, including but not limited to Marketing, Finance, Regulatory, Commercial Analytics, Patient Advocacy, and Medical Affairs. 

This position has the potential to be fully remote. 20% - 35% Travel will be required for in person meetings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Lead the development and the execution of the pricing strategies in partnership with other stakeholders. The key activities include strategic recommendations on pricing decisions, contract and pricing research and analytics, gross-to-net analysis, pricing committee management, and government (federal and state) pricing reporting requirements and management
  • Integrate pricing and reimbursement key insights into payer strategy and tactic development 
  • Hire, manage, support, and mentor direct reports
  • Work and manage all vendors/agencies to ensure the scope, quality and cost associated with any payer or pricing programs are within budget and in compliance with Day One’s policies
  • Develop payer strategy, key tactical programs, and payer value positioning and messaging in collaboration with the market access field team
  • Conduct US payer analyses, identify payer market research needs, partner with Commercial Planning to execute market research plans and translate findings into payer product strategies or recommendations
  • Provide input and recommendations on all matters related to Market Access and brand strategy for Day One’s product portfolio

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • A desire to be part of a highly innovative company aimed at transforming the lives of children and adults
  • S./B.A. degree or higher, with 10+ years of experience in US strategic pricing and contracting, private and public payer strategy and execution in biotech
  • Experience working in Oncology or rare disease in biotech or pharma and experience working in or with managed care plans is preferred 
  • Experience in managing external pricing and contracting management vendors and payer marketing agencies strongly preferred  
  • Working knowledge of current US pricing environment and dynamics, including prevailing payers and their formulary tactics
  • Experience developing contract management practices, pricing committees, vendor government price reporting and contract ROI  
  • Evidence of strong analytical skills, project planning and organizational skills required 
  • Ability to proactively analyze business problems, identify key issues, develop solutions, implement tactical programs, and design metrics to measure business impact 
  • Strong communication and leadership skills and the ability to drive influence across stakeholders to set direction, align work efforts, and ensure outstanding execution 
  • Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory environment in pharmaceutical promotions, pharma industry guidelines, and other compliance-related issues 
  • Self-starter, detail-oriented, organized; Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

The salary range for this position is $260,000 – $280,000. Day One considers a range of factors when determining base compensation. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary.
