We are currently seeking a Senior Director, Portfolio Analytics and Investment Risk to join our team.
As a Senior Director, Portfolio Analytics and Investment Risk you will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and development of the firm’s investment risk analytics and risk data reporting. In addition to maintaining and improving the production-level risk and performance analytics process for funds and strategy portfolios, this role leads the implementation of new analytics processes. The position is also responsible for defining and implementing best practices in the use of Portfolio Analytics tools and protocols by the broad Investment Team.

As a Senior Director, Portfolio Analytics and Investment Risk you will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and development of the firm’s investment risk analytics and risk data reporting. In addition to maintaining and improving the production-level risk and performance analytics process for funds and strategy portfolios, this role leads the implementation of new analytics processes. The position is also responsible for defining and implementing best practices in the use of Portfolio Analytics tools and protocols by the broad Investment Team.
What You Will Do:
- Ensure that portfolio managers have accurate and timely data that they need to make decisions on positioning their portfolios.
- Ensure that the data that goes to clients and prospects is accurate and that client service personnel have a firm understanding of the risks that each of the portfolios are taking.
- Own the modeling inputs feeding the risk analytic outputs generated from the firm’s risk system.
- Work closely with senior management, portfolio managers, and client service personnel across the organization to contribute to the broad portfolio oversight. An additional focus includes the implementation of the quantitative aspects of the firm’s risk management and portfolio construction processes.
- Responsible for the maintenance and the integrity of the end-user analytics delivery platform and recommend and guide future platform expansion efforts, for the completion of ad hoc data requests by the Investment Team and the Business Development teams, and the preparation of research notes on scheduled risk meetings with portfolios.
- Maintain the integrity of the production process for standard risk analysis and reports.
- Develop key insights into funds’ risk profile and performance, both for scheduled risk meetings and on ad hoc basis by ongoing monitoring for anomalies.
- Maintain integrity and develop additional periodic reporting materials and dashboards to evaluate risk across the firm’s investment platform.
- Evaluate and implement new technology to automate workflows and provide additional quantitative insights into risk exposures, performance attribution, and portfolio management process.
- Represent the firm in meetings with clients and prospects, discussing general portfolio analytics and risk processes and specific risk positioning within relevant portfolios.
- Research peer positioning, factor exposures, and performance results using third party/consultant databases.
- Help manage and organize various business issues related to the group’s risk oversight.
- Work with stakeholders to identify use cases to effectively leverage data.
- Prioritize and execute ad hoc analytic queries for investment data analysis. Ensure data quality of the results, and communication back to the requestor(s).
- Perform other job duties assigned as necessary.
- 10+ years of industry related experience with a minimum of 5 years risk management experience.
- A college or university degree in economics, mathematics, finance, or a related field, required.
- Graduate degree in economics, mathematics, finance, or a quantitative field, preferred.
- CFA/FRM designation is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of fixed income risk analysis and portfolio management concepts both in theory and in practical application.
- Strong knowledge of FactSet and Bloomberg, required.
- Expert and up-to-date knowledge of statistical and quantitative approaches to investment analysis and portfolio management.
- Hands-on experience with programming and coding, languages such as R, Python, C#, VBA, preferred.
- Thoroughness and attention to detail are essential traits given the importance of communicating correct information to investors and other members of the portfolio management team.
- Ability to organize, manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, and deliver high quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong presentation skills to show credibility in the firm’s portfolio analytics and risk platform to clients and prospects.
- Ability to conduct independent research in a collaborative team environment.
- Capable of taking responsibility for independent projects with limited supervision.
