We are building a new kind of biotech company, one that maintains its roots as a science-based start-up and pushes our commitment to innovate across all corners of our business. We strive to inspire and grow our company, our partnerships, our science, and our people, because when we do, we deliver more for patients.

As the Senior Director, Media Strategy & Excellence, you are accountable for setting and leading the enterprise media strategy across Patient and HCP audiences, brands, indications, and lifecycle stages. You will establish how argenx uses media to connect customer needs and journeys with brand strategy, accelerate launch and growth priorities, and create relevant, measurable experiences across paid and emerging channels.

You will partner closely with the Vice President, Patient Experience; Brand and Indication Leads across Patient and HCP Marketing; Digital; Insights & Analytics; Customer Experience/CRM; Market Access; and agency partners to develop integrated media strategies that maximize the impact of argenx investments and strengthen the connection between media, customer engagement and commercial performance.

This role will establish the strategic direction, standards, operating practices and capabilities required to build media excellence across the organization. The Media Strategy & Excellence Lead will guide portfolio-level media decisions, agency and partner performance, measurement and optimization, audience strategy, data and technology enablement, and innovation across an evolving media landscape.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Media strategy and portfolio leadership

·       Translate enterprise, customer experience, brand and indication priorities into clear media strategies that advance customer engagement, launch readiness, brand performance, and patient impact.

·       Establish a portfolio-level view of media opportunities, customer needs, audience behaviors, channel dynamics, and investment priorities across argenx.

·       Guide media planning across the customer journey, from disease education and pre-launch engagement through branded activation, conversion, and ongoing customer engagement.

·       Set strategic principles and standards for how media is planned, activated, measured and optimized across the organization.

·       Partner with Brand and Indication Leads to determine the appropriate role of media within broader customer engagement and omnichannel strategies.

·       Guide investment choices and trade-offs across audiences, brands, indications, lifecycle stages, and channels to maximize portfolio impact.

·       Ensure media strategies reflect the distinct needs of individual brands and indications while identifying opportunities to create greater consistency, scale, and efficiency across the portfolio.

·       Bring a forward-looking media perspective into strategic planning, launch planning, and resource allocation discussions.

·       Serve as a senior advisor to the Vice President, Patient Experience and other Commercial leaders on media strategy, investment, performance, and emerging opportunities.

·        Partner with Brand, Patient Experience, HCP Experience, Digital, CRM and other teams to ensure media is integrated into broader customer engagement strategies rather than operating as a standalone channel.

·        Establish audience-first planning approaches that use customer insights, segmentation, and behavioral signals to guide media strategy and activation.

·        Guide the appropriate mix of channels and platforms across traditional, digital, programmatic, streaming, search, social, endemic, point-of-care, and emerging media environments.

·        Lead media strategy across pre-launch, launch, growth and lifecycle phases, adapting investment and engagement approaches based on business needs and in-market performance.

·        Establish clear media KPIs, measurement frameworks, and performance expectations linked to customer and business outcomes.

·        Partner with Insights & Analytics and agency teams to translate media performance into actionable insights that strengthen brand strategy, customer engagement, and future investment decisions.

·        Establish disciplined performance-review and optimization practices that enable timely decision-making and continuous improvement.

·        Ensure media insights are translated into clear, executive-ready narratives and recommendations for Brand, Indication, and senior Commercial leaders.

·        Partner with Digital and Analytics teams to ensure the media data, technology and measurement ecosystem supports effective activation, optimization, and performance evaluation.

Cross-functional, agency and ecosystem leadership

·        Serve as the senior media leader across the Commercial organization, bringing an integrated portfolio and customer perspective into planning and decision-making.

·        Build strong partnerships with Patient Experience, HCP Experience, Brand and Indication Leads, Digital, Insights & Analytics, CRM, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, Procurement, and other relevant teams.

·        Lead the strategic relationship with media agencies and key external partners, establishing clear expectations for strategic quality, innovation, performance, transparency, and accountability.

·        Create effective ways of working across brand teams, shared capabilities, agencies, and external partners to improve planning, decision-making, and execution.

·        Partner with Procurement and Commercial leadership to ensure media investments and agency relationships deliver strong business value.

·        Identify opportunities to scale media best practices, shared approaches, and capabilities across brands, indications, and customer audiences.

·        Resolve cross-brand and cross-functional media priorities and trade-offs where enterprise or portfolio coordination is required.

·        Represent media strategy in relevant internal planning and leadership forums and with external strategic partners.

·        Model collaborative, agile, and non-hierarchical ways of working while maintaining clear accountability for media outcomes.

Media capability building and innovation

·        Define and advance the capabilities required to build a modern, high-performing media organization within argenx.

·        Build organizational understanding of audience strategy, channel roles, media performance, measurement, and optimization.

·        Maintain a forward-looking perspective on changes in customer behavior, media platforms, search, privacy, identity, data, technology, and regulation that may impact argenx media strategy.

·        Evaluate emerging media platforms, technologies, and partnerships and determine where innovation can create meaningful customer or business value.

·        Guide the responsible use of AI and automation to strengthen media planning, activation, optimization, measurement, and scalability.

·        Shape argenx's evolving approach to search discovery, including the implications of AI-powered search and emerging AEO/GEO environments for patient and HCP engagement.

·        Partner with Digital, Analytics, Legal, Privacy, and agency teams to ensure media capabilities evolve in a compliant, scalable, and future-ready manner.

·        Develop media talent and strengthen strategic media capabilities across internal teams and agency partners.

·        Foster a culture of customer-centricity, accountability, experimentation, learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Skills and Competencies:

·       Strategic understanding of the full media ecosystem, including traditional, digital, programmatic, search, social, streaming, endemic, point-of-care, and emerging channels.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
