That's why we continue to think of outside-the-Chewy-box ways to delight, surprise, and thank our loyal pet lovers!
Chewy is seeking a Senior Director of Finance, Consumables to join our Finance team based in Plantation, FL. This is a critical leadership role within the Commercial Finance organization, responsible for partnering with the Consumables Brand team, collaborating across finance and business category leaders, and developing robust metrics, reporting, and analytics. This position reports to the Vice President of Commercial Finance and will work closely with the Vice President of Consumables and the President of Retail, playing a key role in driving continuous improvement across forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting processes.
What You'll Do:
  • Partner with multiple merchant teams across Consumables to develop business plans and revenue and margin forecasts
  • Oversee retail month-end close process, including reconciliation of variances between trends and financial sales data
  • Lead analytics and reporting across the business, including promotional program analysis, ad-hoc modeling, and scenario planning to support decision-making
  • Track and manage financial performance against KPIs, seasonal plans, and budgets; identify and quantify business risks and opportunities, and recommend solutions
  • Present financial updates and insights in weekly and monthly business reviews for leadership
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (Merchandising, Supply Chain, Marketing, etc.) to develop financial models and P&Ls for new products, services, and partnerships
  • Drive improvements in profitability, free cash flow, and operational efficiency
  • Manage cross-functional initiatives and special projects, balancing business needs with process and technical constraints; maintain project status, roadmaps, and documentation
  • Foster strong collaboration, communication, and alignment across teams with competing priorities

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
  • 12+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong leadership and team-building experience
  • Results-driven self-starter with an entrepreneurial mentality
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to simplify complex topics for diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to thrive in ambiguity and fast-changing environments
  • Advanced analytical skills with strong fluency in data tools and financial modeling
  • Experience in consumer/retail, technology, or eCommerce industries preferred
  • Willingness to travel occasionally

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
